The director of Lovely Runner will possibly direct Jang Dong Yoon's romance comeback K-drama.
On May 15, media outlets reported that Jang Dong Yoon was picked to lead the upcoming TVING K-drama Night of Heaven.
Jang Dong Yoon's agency, BH Entertainment, shared its official statement regarding the reports. According to them, Night of Heaven is one of the works that was offered to Jang Dong Yoon. The actor is still reviewing it."
Before Jang Dong Yoon returns to romance, he will first lead the upcoming thriller mystery K-drama The Mantis: Original Sin with Go Hyun Jung, Jo Sung Ha, Lee El, Kim Bo Ra, and Han Si A. The series will reportedly premiere in September of this year.
Jang Dong Yoon last starred in a romance K-drama in 2023 through the series Like Flowers in Sand. He worked alongside Lee Joo Myung, Lee Ju Seung, Yoon Jong Seok, Lee Jae Joon, and Kim Bo Ra.
The actor has showcased his talent across a wide range of K-drama genres and is best known for his roles in My Man Is Cupid, Daily Dose of Sunshine, Oasis, The King of the Desert, Search, The Tale of Nokdu, Mr. Sunshine, School 2017, and more.
Night of Heaven will base its story on the novel of the same name by Hwang Ui Geon. The K-drama will depict the romance between a chaebol heiress, cursed with a doomed life as an illegitimate child, and a former taekwondo athlete who became the top talent at a secret Cheongdam-dong club, as they discover true love.
Jang Dong Yoon has received an offer to play Cheon Guk, a former taekwondo athlete who now works as an ace at an elite club in Cheongdam-dong called Cibélhomme.
The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of director Yoon Jong Ho, who helmed the hit 2024 series Lovely Runner. He is also known for directing other K-dramas such as Times, Flower of Evil, and My Holo Love.
According to reports, the upcoming K-drama is highly likely to be broadcast on TVING.
