Kang Dong Won brings his signature charisma to the role of a special agent in 'Tempest'

Kang Dong Won takes on his first spy melodrama, playing a mysterious special agent in Tempest.

Tempest tells the story of Moon Ju (Jun Ji Hyun), a diplomat and former ambassador to the U.S. with an international reputation, who, along with San Ho (Kang Dong Won), a special agent of unknown nationality, faces a truth threatening the Korean Peninsula.

In the K-drama, Kang Dong Won plays the role of San Ho, a mysterious figure known as the ace of a global mercenary company, though no one truly knows his real identity. San Ho is a highly skilled operative who served in elite special forces, participating in numerous combat missions in places like Iraq and completing every mission flawlessly. He becomes entangled in the incident after rescuing Moon Ju from danger at the scene of a presidential candidate's shooting. He decides to protect her as she teeters on the edge of a precipice.

Jun Ji Hyun, Kang Dong Won's co-star, shared her thoughts: "We worked together with pleasant excitement and tension. While acting, our chemistry naturally and comfortably came about."

Director Kim Hee-won expressed his satisfaction, saying, "San Ho, as portrayed by Kang Dong Won, is outwardly striking and inwardly gentle yet strong. When it comes to action scenes, he shows a powerful side. The fact that both aspects coexist makes him a very charming character."

Tempest will release three episodes on September 10, followed by two episodes weekly, for a total of nine episodes, exclusively on Disney+.
