IU and Byeon Woo Seok's 'Perfect Crown' bolsters the Hallyu wave
JTBC has unveiled character stills from We Are All Trying Here, featuring Kang Mal Geum.
We Are All Trying Here follows the journey of Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo Hwan), who, being the only one whose life is not going well among a group of accomplished friends, is driven to anguish and madness by envy and jealousy. Employing "anxiety" as its key theme, the drama is expected to offer a "green light" to those who have come to a standstill at the warning signal of worthlessness.
The K-drama stars Koo Kyo Hwan, Go Youn Jung, Oh Jung Se, Kang Mal Geum, and Park Hae Joon, among others.
In the K-drama, Kang Mal Geum plays Go Hye Jin, the CEO of the film production company GoBak Film.
CEO Go Hye Jin is a powerhouse producer who wields sharp insight and bold decisiveness. With a cool-headed and clear perspective, she delivers blunt remarks that force people to confront reality. But beneath that lies a rough yet deep affection for both films and people. That is also why she runs the hideout of "The Eight", a film-industry gathering that began with eight college seniors and juniors who came together on the first floor of GoBak Film.
Go Hye Jin's dynamics with Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo Hwan) and Park Kyung Se (Oh Jung Se) are among the drama's highlights. She calmly listens to the endless ramblings of Hwang Dong Man, who has been aspiring to become a director for 20 years, but the moment he crosses the line, she mercilessly bans him from entering the hideout. She is also embarrassed when her husband, the successful director Park Kyung Se, spirals out of control after being consumed by an inferiority complex over having ruined a film, yet she also delivers sharp, cutting remarks out of a sincere desire that he not destroy himself, revealing a deep sense of both marital love and camaraderie.
The stills show Go Hye Jin exuding the charisma and composure befitting the CEO of a film production company. As she effortlessly keeps both Hwang Dong Man and Park Kyung Se in check and anchors the center of their relationship, she exudes a commanding aura and maturity. Because she is responsible for keeping the production company running, she appears on the outside to be a rational, cold CEO, but on the inside she is filled with the warmth and sensibility of someone who genuinely loves both people and films.

We Are All Trying Here is set to premiere on April 18. The K-drama is reported to stream on Netflix.
