The Scarecrow has unveiled a teaser.
The Scarecrow tells the story of Detective Kang Tae Joo (Park Hae Soo) investigating a serial murder case, who forms an unexpected partnership with Prosecutor Cha Si Young (Lee Hee Joon), the very man he despises. The drama follows two men's pursuit of the truth, spanning over 30 years from 1988 to 2019.
The teaser commences with Kang Tae Joo saying, "I'll catch you." Through a series of murders in Gangseong, he becomes convinced that they are the work of the same perpetrator.
However, Cha Si Young — who used to bully him during their school days — appears before him, sending Kang Tae Joo’s investigation in an unpredictable direction. In stark contrast to Cha Si Young, who warmly embraces him, saying, "I missed you," Kang Tae Joo is reminded of a nightmare-like past by Si Young's smiling face.
As the detective in charge of the case and the prosecutor assigned to it meet again after 30 years, an inexplicable sense of looming danger hangs over their joint investigation. The more they work together, the more sharply their conflict intensifies — Kang Tae Joo, "the detective chasing after that killer", and Cha Si Young, "the prosecutor chasing after that detective".
The teaser comes to a close with Kang Tae Joo's anguished warning — "I'm not the Kang Tae Joo I used to be. Don't mess with me!" — followed by Cha Si Young's statement, "I'm keeping you by my side," heightening the suspense to the peak.
Park Hae Soo takes on the role of Kang Tae Joo, an ace detective pursuing the true culprit behind a serial murder case. Upon encountering the prosecutor in charge, Cha Si Young, he faces a dilemma — having to catch the person he desperately wants to apprehend together with the very man he loathes just as intensely.
Lee Hee Joon plays Cha Si Young, an elite prosecutor. As a means of stepping stone for entering politics, he leads the investigation into the Gangseong serial murder case. Willing to use any means necessary, he joins forces with Kang Tae Joo — the detective in charge, and a former classmate he once bullied during their school days.
