Jeon Jong Seo may star alongside Kim Do Hoon, Lee Joon Gi in new Netflix film
On February 12, tvN announced its 2026 drama lineup. Numerous highly anticipated titles have been included; however, the long-awaited The Second Signal did not make it onto the list.
The upcoming 2026 tvN lineup includes the currently airing Our Universe, starring Bae In Hyuk and Roh Jeong Eui; Siren’s Kiss, starring Park Min Young, Wi Ha Joon, and Kim Jung Hyun; Mad Concrete Dreams, starring Ha Jung Woo and Lim Soo Jung; Filing for Love, starring Shin Hae Sun and Gong Myung; See You at Work Tomorrow!, starring Seo In Guk and Park Ji Hyun; Chilling Romance, starring Park Eun Bin and Yang Se Jong; Four Hands, starring Song Kang, Lee Jun Young, and Jang Gyu Ri; My Favorite Employee, starring Kang Hoon and Kim Hye Joon; 100 Days of Lies, starring Kim You Jung and Park Jin Young; and Euntoeyowon Gwanritim, starring Cha Seung Won and Kim Do Hoon, among other shows.
With several highly anticipated projects included in the lineup, The Second Signal, which had been scheduled for release in the first half of this year, was noticed to be left out. Originally, The Second Signal had wrapped filming last year and was slated to premiere in June of this year.
The K-drama was set to be released 10 years after the 2016 broadcast of Signal as a commemorative project for tvN's 20th anniversary.
Penned by writer Kim Eun Hee and starring Jo Jin Woong, Kim Hye Soo, and Lee Je Hoon — the crew and cast of the first season — it has been highly anticipated by both domestic and international fans.
However, the K-drama suffered a major setback after lead actor Jo Jin Woong announced his retirement amid controversy over misconduct during his youth.
Following, on December 19, tvN said in an official statement, "This project has been prepared with the goal of a summer 2026 release, and we deeply empathize with the disappointment and concern of viewers who have waited for 10 years," adding that they are "heavy-hearted and saddened by the current situation." The production team emphasized, "As numerous staff members, actors, and related parties have been involved from planning through production, we will seek the best possible course of action for the production and its viewers, even if it takes time, to protect the value of Signal."
