Yeom Jung Ah shares insights into her character in The Defects.

The Defects follows the desperate survival struggle and revenge of children who were abandoned by their foster parents and narrowly survived the brink of death.

Yeom Jung Ah takes on the role of Kim Se Hui, the director of a major hospital. Though a celebrity in the medical field, behind the curtains, she is also the head of an illegal adoption organization. With the belief that only those with superior genes should survive, she runs the trafficking business and unflinchingly engages in unethical actions to achieve her goals.

The actress shared her reasons for choosing The Defects: "The subject matter felt new, and it was a project with a lot of room to explore as an actor." "The story centers on the journey of growth of children carrying deep wounds, told through a dramatic narrative. What drew me in was the opportunity to take on an intense character labeled 'absolute evil' within that framework."

Yeom Jung Ah chose three keywords to describe Kim Se Hui: two-faced, absolute evil, and complex. She commented, "These words may sound somewhat negative, but they reflect just how complex and evil a character she is," adding, "I felt a sense of thrill in portraying Se Hui's two-faced nature."

Yeom Jung Ah also revealed the aspect she focused on most while acting: "I've played villainous roles before, so I put a lot of thought into creating a character with a different texture this time."

She added, "We approached Se Hui with the premise that she's not an ordinary villain. To help viewers understand why she became a monster, I had many detailed discussions with the director, writer, and production team."

Yeom Jung Ah also talked about working with Won Jin A and DEX, saying, "Both actors are really sweet. They brighten your mood just by being around. Jin A's acting skills go without saying, and she's always full of energy. She was the mood-maker on set."

She continued, "DEX may still be getting used to acting and being on set, but the sincerity he brought to his work left a strong impression. I believe he's going to become a great actor in the future."

Concluding, Yeom Jung Ah shared a message for drama fans, saying, "This is a solid piece built through thoughtful collaboration among the cast and crew."

She added, "I'm confident it will be an enjoyable drama where viewers can discover the charm of the young actors in particular. Please show lots of interest in The Defects."

The Defects is coming on July 21. News about the K-drama's global OTT is yet to come.
