Kim Ji Hoon confirmed as lead in new drama, Park Ju Hyun in talks to join
Chinese historical drama The Road to Glory has dropped a teaser.
The Road to Glory tells the story of Xiao Li (Zhang Ling He), the head of the East Market in Yongzhou, who unexpectedly saves Wen Yu (Jelly Lin), a princess of a fallen kingdom.
Xiao Li helps her eliminate the traitor Pei Song, while he himself rises from a street ruffian to become the King of Wei, ruling over half the realm. However, as power reaches its peak, their relationship grows increasingly intricate and complicated.
The drama is adapted from the novel of the same Chinese name.
The teaser begins with Xiao Li saying, "I may not be a good man, but I would never harm a woman." It then shows a glimpse of Wen Yu running in a red dress in a place engulfed with flames. Wearing shabby clothes, she sits alone on a snowy night when Xiao extends his umbrella over her.
Xiao Li harbors problems of his own. A voiceover says, "Nowadays, everyone in the Yong City knows that Xiao Li is a son of a lady of pleasure, born in the pleasure quarters," hinting at the tough life he has led so far.
As he wonders, "In this world, has anyone truly protected me?" Wen Yu extends her umbrella over his head.
The teaser then takes a turn when Xiao Li is shot by Wen Yu, who declares, "I have only used you" — his eyes brimming with resentment.
The teaser piques curiosity about the duo's evolving dynamics and the circumstances that led Wen Yu to shoot an arrow at Xiao Li.
