Hi!

I`m having a little more time than usual to watch dramas, but there are so many and I don`t know where to start from...I have watched many but I also have many titles in my Plan to watch list, some On hold and some dropped too.

So I would like to ask which are the Chinese Dramas that are a must watch for you...I would say 5 to 10 titles that you think everybody should watch, regardless of the reasons! Could be because you like the story, the actors or the cinematography, or even just because they are tied to important memories and feelings.

Anyway, given the limited time we humans are given, let me know the dramas you think I should definitely watch, those that are in some way unforgettable and/or masterpieces in your opinion (just please advise if it`s a happy or sad ending).

Thanks in advance! ^^

You've watched a lot! Like I want to suggest some titles but you already watched them. And I don't think sweet modern romance is what you look for, so I pick some from your ptw list:

And from your on-hold list:

And some that's not yet on your list:

@autumn iris

Thank you for your picks and suggestions!

The titles you mentioned that are in my  plan to watch list...are still there basically because the length of those dramas kind of scares me away T_T I feel that start watching them it`s like an investment lol

Thank you for your recommendations!

My top 10 favorite full length cdramas (all have happy endings except the first which has an open ending because it never got that second season it was supposed to). For me, it's just how they made me feel, how much I cared about the characters, and that I never once was bored watching them:

@emeraldarrows

Thank you as always for your suggestions!

I think I really have to watch Love and Redemption! It`s been on my plan to watch for a long time ><

The Legends too...but they are so long, it discourages me from starting ._.

You can treat it like a daily drama, just watch like 1-2 episodes a day if you have spare time, no need to feel pressured.

@GothickBlood

I think i can understand the feeling of not being able to startlong dramas. It happens when you have a lot of stuff to juggle.

That's why i initially watched only kdramas short they with 16 eps.

But I figured out i am watching dramas for fun and pleasure, on my whim. So I need not be bounded by the deliberations of completing it right?

For example, I always start dramas and finish of 1-2 episodes , if i dont like them i quit otherwise i continue halfway. And then some other day if i am still as excited to know the next part of it. I watch. It helps me filter out things i really like, and something i am watching out of unfound obligation.

Bloody Romance, , The Legends, Go Ahead, The Legend of Shen Li, Love of the Divine Tree- I tried  out all these and dropped them midway for vvarious different reasons, but i realise i don't need to feel guilty cause they are not part of my syllabus and i am doing myself a favor by saving the time! Plus often i am in need of dramas, and i occassionally release these prisoners and put them into completed list, if i find the kink to wtach them full!

Its always your mood that will do the magic. I for an extremely stubborn person was as sure as stone, that i would never watch something like love f nirvana and lost you forever. But these two became my fav watch this year. I love how i have proved myself wrong. hehhe

A River Runs Through It- i couldn't complete it, but i fst forwarded and saw the ending!

 Jun Jiu Ling, Story of Kunning Palace - i completed these but i especially liked jun jiu ling, so iften rewatch it. SOKP was a bit dark?

I mean nowadays dramas like princess gambit, prisoner of beauty have become the common tropes... Once its interesting but over time, the heaviness is not pleasant. The double was good for me, but i couldn't enjoy the glory despite liking the premise a lot. Same with a dream within a dream, in all these heavy tropes, and repeated unexplainable helplessness, i found "the flourished peony"like a breadth of fresh air. It was different, just different. Among one of the actress, i never thought would be ever on my list, she now tops my fav list; yang zhi has stolen my heart with her performance in lost you forever, and the flourished peony.

Ah, I also dropped a lot. And I also tested the water like you. For normal length (45 minutes-1,5 hours) drama 2 episodes and for micro drama the first 30-60 minutes and for in-between 4 episodes.

I agree, Yang Zi is recently a female empowerment specialist, I love her performance in such dramas. I also excited for all her upcoming dramas, especially the one with Han Dong Jun titled: The Mo/Jia Ye. Another female empowerment drama iirc just like Flourished Peony + S2 and Best Choice Ever/Mai Cheng Huan (modern romance about hotel business). Tbh I quite hate her character in Ashes of Love, which proves her awesome acting ability. But she's good in pretty much any genre. I only skip the one with Fan Cheng Cheng (no hating, just doubting their chemistry since he's maybe half Fan Bing Bing's age?) ever since ehm Go Go Squid, maybe. Ah but I haven't watched Lost You Forever S2, scheduling it for next month.

Yes yes.

I couldnt watch Best chocie ever due to the toxic mother arc.

Bro i tried ashes of love, i mean i really 5-8 episodes of this and immortal samsara but i have not yet continued. maybe someday in future?

I tried love endure 3 episodes, i couldnt watch more.

Well i wasnt a big fan of go go squid so i didnt hold yang zi in high regard. But i completed lost you forver wothout skipping s1 and s2 in a  span of less than 3 days, you can imagine how much less sleep i had etc. All this before a very crucial exam i had. I am guilty KIll me bt LYF was fire. Watching the seasons back to back i feel would be better than seperate, before one forgets names of all character.

Ah, she'll be a good mother in the end (thanks to the newfound pitiful handsome nephew by marriage-Xu Kai) but I agree, she's super toxic.

Immortal Samsara is great until halfway then it go downhill. But I love both Cheng Yi and Yang Zi so I keep watching until the end. My, Cheng Yi is a total cutie.

Wow, 3 days for 2 seasons, and while in exam!? That was crazy! The only 40+ eps drama I completed in like 3 days is Love and Redemption, and that was when I took a 2-weeks bed rest after kneecap dislocation.

Yeah, I actually plan to watch it back-to-back but somehow I get distracted, like there are so many great dramas to choose from. I still remember Xiang Liu, the 9-heads snake shapeshifter, the power-hunger cousin who's sick in the head, the richest business heir in all 3 countries and boyfriend who may represent innocent first love, the cousin's best friend who like FL because of her status and power, the stepsister who obsessed with the cousin, that best friend's younger sister who also obsessed with the cousin (I get that Zhang Wan Yi's deep voice is so sexy), though I could only remember Xiang Liu's name. You're right, I only remember 1 name by now... I really should start it asap.

You are right, but usually l work and l the episodes l can watch are limited..the ongoing stuff mostly (;><)

But days off and extra time can be used for those long dramas indeed!

@Jade

Yeah, there are so many dramas and not enough time, so l'm always afraid to not use it wisely..and in the end l end up using it thinking about what to watch insted of watching lol

@autumniris

Well i saw the full series summary in some yt video of 30 mins..their story kinda. And read some reviews which made me believe the hatred i would develop for her character will eat away my soul for 3/4th of the drama, and her redemption will never be a remedy for my hurt. I mean i have suffered much from such dramas, bro. Like i have quite low sense of differentioation or real and reel pain. I cannot often keep those worlds seperate, and the suffrage of leads and the frustation many a times seeps into my reality. And has made a grumpy moody weird young lady.

IK its crazy, i had bloodshot eyes from no sleep and constant crying thanks to LSY. I never had ever felt so much for a drama that i felt for this one. Myabe i was deranged due to lack of sleep and it overexaggerated my emotions. But i was cursing out the characters, reading reviews here and there to appease my anger. Crying as if someone carved my heart out, with every scence and song.

well it was my ankle bone fracture that is responsible for over 150 dramas of my list, and worsening my lifelong melancholy, so i relate.

uff wow u really summed up well. Its okay, even i dont remember names, I am watching seasn 2 of FP so going through such difficulties. (i can understand why u only remember our xiang liu)
