I've seen a few Chinese period dramas recently (all fairly new) but for some reason they all end in a failed rebellion from bad guys and good guys reclaiming the throne. E.g. (Nirvana in fire, Nirvana in fire 2, Story of MingLan, Story of Yanxi Palace, The Princess Weiyoung)
Why is this so popular? Are there any Chinese period dramas where there's (in the middle-later parts of the show) where a rebellion succeeds against a overbearing/tyrannical emperor?
I've seen Joy of Life and I think I've read somewhere that Joy of Life eventually ends like this in the final season perhaps?
