I found this drama just a few days back while aimlessly scrolling through Douban and just a few days later it airs!! I've yet to start it so idk just how RR it's gonna be but it seems very promising! I've been thinking a lot lately about a more serious and grounded story focused around a woman having to cross-dress and become emperor because of all the possibilities for interesting plot and drama (I'm just such a sucker for palace politics and would love for women to have roles other than wife, lol) and then I stumble upon this treat??? Needless to say, imma be watching this for SURE That trailer is serving everything I wanted to

This one was recommended to me under one of my RR lists and I started watching it because why not and yay! It's a fun micro rr one. FL is the ruling empress, ML is her devoted general turned consort. Her former boytoy hates her and it's a wild ride so far. Unfortunately the subs aren't very good but if you're used to watching microdrama trash then you'll be fine (it's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me). It's filmed vertically so that might be a turnoff for some and the plot is... well, yeah, a micro cdrama, lmaaoo

An Ancient Love Song - Ep 6

• Ok, this outside shot looks expensive o-o Like, ik it's obviously enhanced and there's defs not that many people but it looks GOOD!! 
• Shenbo coming in and throwing salt in the enemy's wound. Okay sassy king, go off
  • Shen Buyan casts embarrassment leaving the man too stunned to speak. He than casts humiliation!! It is most effective, leaving his opponent thoroughly and utterly incinerated. K.O. No, but like really why did no one shoot him xD 
  • The background music being this light rock-ish like sound while ML is talking is making it look like Lu Yuan is just absolutely killing it with that single instrument and I'm living for this image ngl
  • Bro won through the power of yapping and being a frigging nerd- what an icon. 10/10
  • Wait, the yapping so lethal that he gave bro a heart attack? I'm sobbiiiiinnngggggg. I forgot how unseriously hilarious this drama is 
  • Wait... didn't ML just make a really elaborate your mom joke... o-o 
• "You are an incurable fool" is such a lethal insult. Not only are you a fool but it's also chronic? RIP
• And there it is... the flower on SFL's hair :( 
• Dang they brought the empress and her maid back in chains in a cell?? O-O Where's the respect

  • Oh, there he is anyway xD I wasn't too far off
• "His majesty's imperial presence is awe-inspiring" I love minister lipservice so dang much 
•  Stop the bixia & Shenbo's brotherhood makes me so soft 🥺
• So this is when he dies for her... Huh- I was expecting it to be more dramatic tbh. It's kinda abrupt and doesn't quite have the impact of her death back in ep 1. I do really like the transition from historical back to contemporary though. This drama doesn't miss 
• But like... What if ML died for real though? This isn't a video game or a book, bro is there in person so I guess more accurately... How did bro not die for real? Time travel headache inducing plot stuff?

• Not bro googling his own death immediately and then being offended that it wasn't even recorded in history and made no impact T_T He's like
• Lovesick nerd ENRAGED by the patriarchy is not something I thought I would enjoy so much but I do, ahaha
  • How often were powerful historical women written wrongly simply due to this fact. I'm currently watching The Story of Her [link cuz links aren't spoilered fsr] which is basically a documentary about this.
  • And our lovely Lu Yuan taking it like the empress that she is.
• Okay... but like Shenbo struck the prime minister in the left side of his chest, basically on the heart. Pretty lethal. Meanwhile he was stabbed from the back and we don't actually see the sword go through so it's very likely it did not at all. I'm not saying it can't be lethal but the former sounds way worse and yet the prime minister is just fine and Shen dies? Is this also time travel nonsense? The moment Shen gets injured he's just picked up from the timeline with a claw machine and dumped back into his own? 
• Interestiiiing so Lu Yuan was a musician? :O 
• Dang the ungrateful POS!!! She saved his sorry butt all the way back and bro repays her like this? Me and my homies hate the prime minister >:( 
  • I'm not buying his woe-is-me and 'peace' talk... bro's a master manipulator

• Y'all I haven't rooted and felt for a couple this much in SOOOO long!!!!! God, the heartbreak of ML's monologue of "I'm afraid I'm no longer the one you missed" but that he'll save her anyway and her softly saying "You're back" has me WEAK- Y'ALL

• Her smile is everything <3
• "I guess you must really enjoy looking down on others from above" I know it wasn't meant that way but why does this sound like such a diss? Shenbo, tone down the sass- that woman can absolutely kick your butt T_T
• Goodness the idea that every time he meets his loved one she knows him a little less but seems so genuinely happy is absolutely heartbreaking. Vice versa too, right, which is what we had been seeing here and there but seeing it from his perspective is so devastating. 
• Her slapping the mask he wore in her bedroom is just so cute and relatable xD Also she kept his mask for over a decade, y'aaaalll
• Wait... bro's master plan is to take her to the present day? Sir, you don't even know how YOU traveled through time? Especially the going back part is vague at best, how are you gonna bring a whole entire other person with you? I can't with this man

I once again forgor a lot of the details of this drama 😔 But I'm still super invested

I just completed Zhang Gong Zhu Zai Shang! It's such a good mini drama, I really liked it. The only thing that felt off was the voice acting, that is, it didn't sync up with their lips moving around words. I don't know how to say this well, but you know what I mean, right? All in all, a nice little gem and my first incursion in role reversal genre. <3

Yeah, I'm a mood watcher too. Sometimes I go through drama slumps that last days to weeks, even months. And then I come back like nothing happened. I was having such a slump until I've seen all those gifs on your profile. Simply had to check out all the series, I'm afraid I've found my weakness when it comes to MF romance haha. My drama slump is officially over (it lasted 4 days this time).
