Challenge one

I recommend weak-hero. It's shows the harsh reality of bullying in Korean schools. There is friendships and betrayals in it . I like how it uses physics in some of the fight scenes. There is a second season that recently came out

Another one is -blood-2015. I don't usually watch fantasy and supernatural genre but I like how it uses science to explain it.

Another one is our-school-now. It shows friendship and and romance in a challenging situation and shows how some crumble to the pressure while others stand up.

I would love psychological or thriller or one that shows society's real life issues.

I accept the childe. Thank you for this movie. I dont usually watch movies. It was a great watch even if it wasn't exactly what I was looking for

 Killer_Queen:
I would love psychological or thriller or one that shows society's real life issues.

Hi, Killer_Queen!! Here are some titles I think you might enjoy...

Connection
Kdrama - 14 eps

Action, Crime, Thriller, Psychological, Noir, Picaresque
- I think this one is right up your lane + selected from your PTW
Bad Guys
Thaidrama - 12 eps

Action, Thriller, Psychological, Crime, Noir
- Tackles some societal issues but mostly from a criminals POV.
The Childe
Kmovie - 2hrs

Action, Thriller, Crime, Drama
- Very entertaining and interesting crime/thriller movie that also tackles some societal issues

Shijukara
Jdrama - 12 eps

Psychological, Romance, Drama
- The only non-action/crime/thriller but pretty good on the psychological and social commentary. Delves into abuse and trauma

Hope these are to your liking! Do feel free to let me know if you want more/different reccs! ^^

Recc requests: Please do check out my like and dislike list on my profile, I appreciate it greatly 🙏 You can also go through my completed list but my profile info will give a better idea of what I enjoy ^^ My PTW is incomplete but feel free to take a look if you're so inclined. Lastly, I tend to not enjoy very popular dramas as much so less popular picks would be ideal

Current Mood: Not sure tbh... something unusual/atypical or a pre-world wars historical film

  • Nothing too long. Miniseries, short length series, movies, or specials are ideal (under 8 hours if possible)
  • No tragedies, sad endings, or terminal illnesses.
  • Minimal body horror.
  • Minimal or no violence against women/children.
  • No all-male or mostly-male casts.
  • No healing dramas/movies

Always eager for: Unusual thrillers, good noona romance, role reversal, whump, weird stuff, badass women, blood-pumping action, character-focused narratives, & memorable OSTs

Since I'm a heavy mood-watcher and fussy about what I watch I might ask for more/different reccs. Thank you for your time <3

Thanks for the recommendations @Killer_Queen

I choose...

Vagabond

Challenge 2

Arclei

I have no clue what to recommend you as you have so much criteria but I'll try my best

hounds it is a mix of great action scenes, bubbly friendship in trying to do what is right.

rugal is by far one of my favourite series that I've watched. It incorporates the use of AI technology in the fighting scenes.

-vigilante shows two sides of the same coin. It was short, and to the point

vagabond had great heart pounding action and fight scenes that had me hooked. It has a great story as well

I would love a great crime drama. I would rather the dark and serious ones though

I accept regeneration

It wasn't exactly what I was looking for as I would class this as drama or suspense, nowhere near crime but I loved the storytelling and loved the first 7 episodes then I skimmed through the last 3

I accept Unique_rain’s recommendation to watch 3-papas.

Status: CW Completed

Edit: 2

Rating: 8/10

Thoughts: Breaking the fourth wall was never my thing, but I actually enjoyed 3 Papas. And, the best part for me was definitely the three dads and the baby, the rest of the characters didn’t do much for the story. Overall, it was a pretty decent watch.

Thanks to Unique_rain for the recommendation!

3rd challenge

It would be helpful if you put what genres you prefer as I've not watched many that you have which make recommendations hard to give but here we go

morning-comes-to-the-mental-ward one of my favourite dramas as it's medical which made me learn quite a few things alongside romance that was sweet and actually had flow.

devil-sister. One of the few romance dramas that I watched that will make you shout at the characters and really take you on a rollercoaster

3-papas I quite liked this one as it is different. It is incredibly wholesome and heartwarming with great characters development

I want a drama that I wouldn't usually watch which is fantasy , sci fi or romance but incorporates psychological or thriller genre

I accept tales of the nine tailed. I've been meaning to watch this for a while now. This is the push I needed

1st Challenge

For Unique_rain: I'm going to recommend Tale of the Nine-Tailed (2020) to you. This one mixes a few of the things you're looking for- fantasy, romance and thriller.

I found a few alternative titles, but I think this fits the bill best for what you requested. It was pretty popular when it aired but let me know if you want something different.

For whoever wants to recommend me a drama, here are some hints:
- if you visit my profile I have a little chart that breaks down my drama taste
- i'm particularly in the mood for a kdrama! this is a link to my kdrama plan to watch list if you'd rather pull something from there

I accept dearuto's recommendation to watch Brewing Love!

Status: Completed as of June 15th!
Rating: 7.5/10
Review/Thoughts: I'll start this off and say rom-coms are totally up my alley and I was already eyeing this one!! This recommendation was the push I needed to finally give it a try despite some of the reviews. That being said, I can't give it higher than a 7.5/10. I love love love unconventional personality type pairings and loved the premise of Brewing Love. I just wish they held onto the concept of the ML being sensitive more; after the first couple episodes they honestly make it seem like a superpower he uses when it conveniently helps resolve the plot. I also felt like they lost the personality of the FL once she decided she liked the ML.. tomboy turned overly giddy caricature of herself. Also what was with her confession?? she went from seeing him as a colleague to saying she LOVED him??  a normal confession wouldve been fine T-T. My only other big gripe would have to be about all the plots they kinda half assed (2ML's PTSD, FL's mental health and relationship with her grandma and ML's relationship with his father before they made up). Nonetheless, I was very happy to get to watch this drama and binged it within a few days! I loved the village, the FL and SML's friendship and the second couple.

Thank you dearuto!!

First challenge completed here! (sorry it took so long TT)

Hi cal0ri3!

I read through your profile and tried to recommend shows that suit your likes and also in your PTW!

This drama is a masterpiece for me. The writing was good, solid story line and the characters were well-fleshed out. I loved how the characters had their flaws but it just made everything better. The story keeps you hooked and wanting for more.

Best part of the drama was I really like how they wrapped the show up. It was a good ending imo unlike many other k-dramas where they rush out the ending.

such an underrated drama!!!!!!! I gotta admit the first 2 episodes are really boring but it kinda sets the context for the drama. Once you get past the first 2 eps and the main couple starts learning more about each other and building their relationship it's just such a good watch!!! Not to mention the second leads too, very cute couple.

I love how the couple have good understanding of each other and they always know that if there's conflict they need to talk it out. they are different but they make compromises for each other. I really enjoyed their dynamics

A show so good i wish i can rewatch it for the first time again! I love love love love this drama so much. It's a youth drama so there are a lot of wholesome moments but it also touches upon more sensitive topics that if not done well can give off the biggest iyk. But this drama bravely approached the topic and I think they did it well!

As usual my moods are always k/cdramas - a rom-com would be nice!  otherwise something on my PTW to push me to start watching them is also okay HAHA

I accept July Moon's recommendation to watch Extreme Job - it's been on my PTW for the longest time but haven't watched it 🤣

Status: Completed!
Rating: 7/10

This was a fun and light hearted watch! thanks for the rec and push for me to complete this x)

5th challenge done

2. Mad Dog (Revenge, Investigation, teamwork, found family)

3. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call (medical, teamwork, action, humor)

4. Age of Youth (sismance, female driven plot, coming of age)

5. Hit The Spot (mature, life lessons, romance, friendship)

6. May I Help You (mystery, romance, love triangle, healing drama)

7. My First First Love (Friendship, Romance, Coming of Age, Comedy)

8. Extreme Job (Movie, Comedy, Investigation, Action)

9. Oh No! Here Comes Trouble (Taiwan, Mystery, Supernatural, Comedy, Investigation, Friendship)

Open to recommendations. I'm not in the mood for anything specific but I suffer from drama slump so maybe something shorter would be better. Would love when you could give me a bunch of different recommendations to choose from. See my profile for general likes/dislikes. You may choose from my PTW list but not necessarily. Thank you! <3

I choose Mad For Each Other by Anne613. Thank you for so many recommendations! <3

Let's Talk About Chu also caught my interest (have added it to my PTW list).

I accept Stardust_stroller’s recommendation to watch Coffee Prince

Status: CW

Hi Anne613,  i checked out your profile and your prefences and picked 3 recommendations that you might like:

1.Because This Is My First Life- a story about two people cohabiting because of economic problems and they decide to fake getting married  to stop their parents's nagging.

2.The Prisoner of Beauty- a story about a woman who goes to legitimate a political marriage with another region that her region betrayed in the crucial moment of war, that resulted in the death of three generations in power. Her husband and everyone else hates her, but she must find a way to survive.

3.Coffee Prince- a story about a girl who always get mistaken for a boy, because she's a masc and because of economic problems she decides to fake her identity to get a job where everyone must be a male.

I accept Pinwheel 's recommendation to watch The Beauty Inside .

Hey there Stardust_stroller  ( ^_^)/
You did not mention any preferences but I checked your profile so I think maybe you can enjoy one of the following recs (if you actually have a genre or country or something specific in mind send me a message and I can change the options):

  • Do You Like Brahms? - Two people in different stages of their music careers meet and sparks fly, all while dealing with traumas, insecurities and people around them. One of my favorite melos.
  • The Beauty Inside -  modern romance with some fantasy elements where FL has a condition where sometimes her body transforms to that of a different person. ML can't recognize faces (prosopagnosia) so he really pays attention to personalities to be able to recognize people. Then they meet.
  • Fall In Love - A historical romance but from a different time period to your usual picks. FL and ML are at odds with each other due to politics and complots, but love starts to grow. I was scared of republican era dramas but this one was so easy to get into.
  • Put Your Head on My Shoulder - Since you enjoyed Because This is My First Life, this to me is like a college, light hearted approach.

  • I am open to recs from any country.
  • I would prefer if romance is NOT the main genre (its fine as a subplot just not the main focus)
  • No more than 40 episodes.
  • No sad endings, extreme gore, or death games pretty please.

Here's my PtW list for ideas but it can be overwhelming as it's fairly long. So it's definitely not necessary to use it.

All rounds: Round 1 // Round 2 // Round 3

5th challenge completed!

Pinwheel, oh dear… I promise I wasn‘t waiting for you to post for some 3.5 months. I just finally have a lull in my airing drama watching fulfillment and am ready to supplement it… so you got me again. 😂 I did consider waiting, but who knows how long it’d be before another person comes around, you know?

The other recs are still valid (I’ll link em below the new ones so you aren’t going back and forth), but why not add some more?

Home Drama = one of my favorites, a found family story of healing for a lot of total strangers who come together after losing family members in the same accident. It is from 2004, so sure, the online video isn’t going to mesmerize you, but the story doesn’t need fancy graphics (the set, the home, that is, and an island featured later, is really unique and heartwarming as the while is). 11eps x 45mins

Under the Queen’s Umbrella = a favorite that happens to be historical but doesn‘t have the sluggishness of nonstop political infighting and whatnot with power grubbing ministers. Instead, this is focused on the King’s wife, a genuinely title-worthy badass Queen, her children, the dynamics between them, the concubine’s children, and concubines as well… lots and lots of princes that the Queen is the mother of (all, not just who she carried in her womb 9 months) as she is to the whole nation, too. Bromance and some normal brotherly antagonism is plentiful. You’ll want her to be your next life mother even if yours is amazing, at least for a while. 16eps x 70mins

Justifiable Defense = a Chinese legal drama that is less about whodunnit cases and more about the humans who decide what counts as justice and how to work within legal confines (and when it is time to change them, too) to serve human justice through courts. It asks more questions than it gives answers—rather, it might have you asking them. 15eps x 40mins

PS Less a recommendation than me noticing you haven’t seen… Under the Skin Season 2

From before:

Flower of Evil thriller, dark, psychological 16eps X 70mins

Taxi Driver action+thriller, justice served in unconventional ways for dark crimes, episodic with overlapping main character stories woven in 16eps x 25mins

Study Group action, comedy, dysfunctional school setting 10eps x 42mins

Seirei No Moribito adventure and action with my fave badass FL warrior-it is listed in 3 parts (22total eps), but they are one continuo story (Part 2, Part 3) —be sure you can find it all before starting or you may be frustrated if you end up only seeing part of the story. When it stopped being officially licensed and the main two illegal sites went down, a lot of titles got harder to find. (22eps x 58mins total)

Open for recs! No dubbing (so no historical Chinese dramas, please) and no glorified/rewarded/forgiven-and-returned-to domestic violence (but assailants getting punished creatively I love!). Otherwise, anything up to 24 hours is great (20eps @70mins, 16 eps@90mins, 32eps@45mins, etc). I also don’t like vertical dramas in general. I’m a bit weird/particular with romance, so if it is fluffy/mostly romance, it probably should give pause. My mood doesn’t often have me lean into love stories that don’t exist in real life-they need some intense hardship if I am going to root for total green flags very often (save some oddities with chemistry [&/or or visuals, yep] that make me willing to turn my brain into puddle and forget the writing flaws). 😂
