I've decided to pay closer attention to the directors, producers and writers of the dramas I'm watching, and hopefully understand a little more about their work and how dramas are made. I even created a private pfp list to collect the names from my very favorite dramas.
The first thing I learned is the director of one of my top BLs, HIStory 3: Trapped, also did one of my top fav straight C-dramas (Hidden Love, for the curious) and a CW C-drama (also straight) that I'm enjoying. I was surprised and impressed. Plus the director is a woman. 💪
A plus: It might help me ID some of the better dramas based on who's behind the work and to try other dramas by the same people.

i noticed aof noppharnach produced, wrote, and directed a couple of my favorite dramas! (my dear loser edge of 17, dark blue kiss, still 2gether, tale of a thousand stars, moonlight chicken, and the heart killers)
i'd assume he is my favorite director and writer? i don't pay attention much to the director but rather the actors. i really should start paying attention to the writing more, though, because some lines in dramas are BAD. i might start paying closer attention to the directors and writers now that you brought it up!! :D

I pay zero attention to the directors and writers lol. I just watch a series as it is presented, I avoid behind the scenes, interviews, promotional events, actors' private lives, etc. If it is an actor that I like the most I will go is an IG follow for pictures. Anything that will break the reality created in the series, I avoid it. That way the series is preserved in my mind, and I see characters not actors. As it relates to major news about actors, that I cannot avoid as I am constantly interacting in BL spaces, but I do not normally dig deeper than headlines.
However, you do have a great point in looking at series based on who made them. It could save you from watching series that you will not like. I might just try it.
