 Indie Art Girl:
couldn't this also apply to both a series and movie version of a BL?

I actually don't know. There are a couple series like that in my completed list (but I did not add the unwatched counterparts). The only series I've seen both drama and movie is Semantic Error. But this obviously doesn't apply 'cause I've watched both.

 p43425:
but mostly because I feel like I'm encouraging the BL industry.

what do you think of the above case?

 Indie Art Girl:
Does everyone know about rating each episode in the series, which can boost the rating a bit as well?

I had no idea about this! Now there's even more work for me to do on this website. =))

The nice thing is that once you click on the first ep you can click through to all the rest pretty quickly. A pop-up appears if you want to submit a review, which I don't, so I delete it. It's kinda annoying to do that repeatedly.

MDL is having issues rn. At least on my mac it is.

Yep, the usual. It'll probably go back to being fine in a few days (or even by tomorrow, who knows).

I will rate episodes too! Just have to find a bit of time to do so.

 Indie Art Girl:

Yes, this is also a good point. Where there's a series and an essentially identical movie version (which mostly means KBLs), I likewise rate both by my exact same rationale (i.e. my rating is relevant to both listings, so in my opinion, it's honest and fair).

As to which version I actually watch, it depends: Because the movie versions usually come out later, it might be that I've already watched the series, but where I have a choice, I look at the reviews and comments to determine whether the movie version has been over-edited; if not (i.e. if I conclude that the movie version basically just eliminates redundant "next episode" and "previous episode" highlights), I'll generally opt for the more convenient movie version.

I don't rate individual episodes because I'm not sure anyone looks at these episode ratings (or does it affect the overall rating?), but most of all because I'm a lazy git.

 Florentina:

I hope that answers your question.

Yep, this happened with Semantic Error. I wasted hours of my life watching the movie and concluded there wasn't anything new in it. Granted I watched the movie last year, so there was enough distance between it and the drama version.

I would still feel wary of rating the movie/drama of a drama/movie, but maybe I shouldn't be.

That's one I don't mind re-watching, even if unintentionally, haha!

I've been told by MDL veterans it affects the ratings. What's a "git"

yes! i always rate every episode i watch, i think it's really fun. i'm usually more gracious with episode ratings than i am with rating the whole series, and i take it a little less seriously lol

Cool! Yeah me too. Once or twice I was really disappointed with an episode in an otherwise good drama and I did rate it a little lower. But I'm usually fairly generous. Same for my overall rating. But if I REALLY didn't like smth I have no problem going low. 😆

Looks like a cute one from Strongberry! Coming in May.

Mild British slang word to refer to a person which can, depending on context, be insulting or just teasing or self-deprecating. Hmmm, hard to think of a close American equivalent.

 p43425:

Yes!  Both the 2020 short version (part of the "En of Love" trilogy) as well as the 2022 full-length series. I love Yin and War.

omg same they r so cute T T them in j and j was smtg else

Ohhh ok. I would not have guessed it right.

 Florentina:

Lmao, thanks. Reading your comment made me genuinely laugh.

YES I made someone laugh that's a good thing but genuinely I love how organised you are

 Florentina:

Same here. Cut version just doesn't cut it for me lol Not when there are definitely more scenes in the uncut one. That's a good point! For this reason alone, I should rate both versions. Thanks for chiming in about this, I was honestly wondering what I should do.

I want to support my favorite series too! ^^

I also always watch the uncut version it also tends to be better than the cut one for some reason.

 Indie Art Girl:

I hope we get a S2! I'm doing great!

I watch cut versions I guess, since most of the titles don't say otherwise. Does that mean I can record both too? Sometimes I only have the uncut version to watch. But if I count both isn't it giving me double stats for one watch?

Yeah same It actually was very fun to watch I am def hoping that more Western media will do something like that in the future. Or take a look at Eastern media that hits just right a lot of times when they make BL's
