 Chun Mo Rionnag:

If you think that was bad, the main couple from that are currently in "Crazy Handsome Rich" (Thailand, 2023) which is dubbed (in Thai!) by just two voice actors for the whole cast. If you get through episode 1 of this drama, you are doing better than most who dropped it after a few minutes.

Just from the name, I was already considering this as my nomination for "Worst BL of 2023".

Wasn't even planning on picking it up tbh, I just want Lee Long Shi to be in a decent drama.

Hmmm... "Ever After" (Philippines, 2023) would also be a contender.

 Karina Zhan:

Bro, I am so shocked there is a Korean version of "Why R U?"

Like I don't even know what to expect from this.

what are your thoughts? Does somebody plan to watch it?

After 4 of 8 episodes released as of today: I like it! Other than the title and basic story premise, it bears little resemblance to the Thai original in storyline details, characters, style or even the humour, so it's hard to compare. I like them both in different ways. This series is 8 Korean-length (short) episodes vs. the original with its 13 + 4 Thai-length (long) episodes, so this new version moves along much more quickly. My one little gripe (as with many Korean series) is the outsized role of Korea's rather toxic drinking culture.

That being said, Viki reviews are mostly rather negative, so others don't seem to share my opinion. (Or maybe they're just Thai-version loyalists?)

Tip: Don't miss the extra scene at the very end of each episode (especially if you have Viki "automatic next episode" turned on).

Yes. Viki is annoying in this regard.

I really enjoyed Like in the movies

Just finished the Youtube premiere of "Dangerous Romance" Episode 3. This series is so good! Psychologically quite interesting how the relationship between Kang and his dad is rather the opposite of the usual problem in these dramas (overly controlling and demanding parents).

PS: Also interesting how Perth reverse-ages: university student in 2018 ("Love By Chance"), and now he's a high school student. Hmmm. But he's cute enough to pull it off!

+++

I also just finished the finale of the adorably cute "Stay By My Side" (Viki/Gaga). I don't think I've heard anyone else comment on this series. Am I the only one who totally loves it?

I just finished it. I'll post about it on my feed once I've finished watching all the BL episodes released today.

Eien No Kinou: Complete Edition

Is this different enough from the original series ("Eien No Kinou" / "Eternal Yesterday", Viki/Gaga) to be worth watching extra?

Although the original series was extremely well done and acted, the basic story premise wasn't really my thing - but maybe I should give it another try, especially if this version offers something new.
