I do agree with you though. How can they be this comfortable in the 2013 scenes when in episode 13, Trash was completely pulling a d move by being possessive of Na Jeong and telling her to half-a** helping Chilbong with his studying? It doesn't make sense that Trash would be like that and then be so buddy-buddy with him later. Even if Trash is endgame, that's definitely one part of his personality that I dislike with a passion.
Another part that I disliked that he became so bad with Chil Bong after he told him that he confessed to her. Before that, he said that he liked him the most and always played ball with him, of course I am not saying that they should be buddies while they're rivals but still, he was really cruel for not asking him about his injured leg and he knows how an athlete's health is everything to him. That put me off so the scene where they were laughing together in 2013 is ridiculous and doesn't make sense.

I forgot that Trash said he liked Chilbong the most, but you're right. That was low. As intense as that staredown scene was, I thought it sad too that Trash said that it would be the last time they did that. How is that being a man? It seems childish; I could see it between two teenagers, but not two twentysomethings.

to me it would not make sense if they were still pissed off at each other 18 years later. i can not imagine being angry at one of my friends 18 years later. my best friend and i met in middle school, we've been besties for 16 years. in the past 16 years that have been PLENTY of times when we were angry at each other, once she even punched me in the face. another friend i've know just as long is actually married to one of my exes, my own SISTER married a man i had a casual thing with. i guess what i'm saying that as you get older you realize that everyone makes mistakes and if those people are important enough to you you forgive them, even if they maybe dont deserve it. the people you love are uniquely equipped to hurt you. but you forgive them, or else instead of having a house full of friends when you're pushing 40 you're watching your wedding video alone wondering what the hell happened to your life.
It's funny. I said before I didn't bother with the tiny details but here I am rewatching those episodes and taking note of them. Before talking about Ssuk Ssuk coming home very late, Chilbong took her coffee and took a sip. She then stood up and poured another cup for herself. Now if you were husband and wife, you still could've continued drinking from the very same cup right? Unless of course you or your hubby have sharing issues LOL. Even the wallet throw. Chilbong is right-handed. He throws balls with his right and catches with a LEFT hand.
In one earlier episode, Chilbong lies on the couch and Trash is sitting on the opposite end. Yoon Jin tells him to go sleep in the room and he does and takes off his vest/sweatshirt. If he's the hubby why did YJ have to tell him to go sleep right? Why didn't he just leave them at the living room and say he'll take a nap? On the other hand, if Trash is the hubby, then why didn't he say anything? Or even Na Jeong for that matter?
And then of course, * there's Trash's VHS player .They married in 2002, the video CD should have been commonly used by then. But they were watching the wedding in 2013 recorded on a VHS tape on Trash's player.*
I love underdogs and dark horses. But this rarely happens to me (having a strong dislike for male leads), and even those male lead jerks from previous dramas seemed to pale now compared to Sseuregi. The moment he farted and pulled the covers over her head, I couldn't imagine how disgusted I was. Lol! How comfy are they with each other that they pass gas just like that? Come to think of it Na Jeong did that (TWICE) when Chilbong was helping her with her back problem. Lmfao! XD Ok, so maybe they deserve each other, Trash and Na Jeong. I dunno, maybe they pass gas at each other for bonding time? XD JK guys! XD
Really? I failed to notice that. Did they say something about his current career?

It never expressly says that. Plus, he's pushing 40 in 2013; not many baseball players have that type of longevity, and pitchers have even less due to the continued arm and elbow stresses. Tommy John surgery (saying if Chilly blew his arm out) was nowhere near as effective in the late 90's and early 00's as it is today. So it's quite possible that Chilly isn't an athlete now, but that might not have to do with an injury necessarily. Not every pitcher is a Mariano Rivera or Randy Johnson (both who had rubber arms that seemed to never fade).

It's so obvious that she's going to end up with Trash but they always keep giving us hope like "it ain't over until it's over" or the "working hard theory" that Chil Bong spent the whole ep 13 talking about it. I mean we're not children, how on earth can Na Jung fall in love with Chil Bong in 8 episodes while she was so in love with her oppa for 13 episodes (and even the preview for ep 14)?
I would've liked it better if things were clear from the get go like in Reply 1997 because the trolling hints of the writers are driving me nuts and I know that Trash is going to get the girl, Chil Bong is becoming more and more like a second male lead and the possibility of second male leads to get the girl is: NEVER!
I am going to feel sad by the end of the drama :(
CheerfulSoul wrote: To start with, I am pretty confident who’s the husband is; it’s Trash without doubt.
Leaving that aside, the writers have some serious explaining to do in the upcoming episodes. I know that Chil Bong isn’t going to get Na Jung but the writers would be contradicting themselves if that’s the case. They said that a man’s first love is something untouchable and very sensitive so how on earth can he act so open with her after 20 years and watch his first love’s marriage with another man while laughing? It just doesn’t make sense. It’s the same if it was Trash, how can he act so cool if he was watching Na Jung’s marriage with another man? Although his case will be less painful since Na Jung isn’t his first love and I am quite sure that he’s the groom but still.
Also, when Chil Bong was asking about Na Jung’s brother saying “He’s been coming home very late LATELY”, it’s something that only those who live in the house would say it, it’s not like they gather in Na Jung’s house every day. It’s another contradictory that the writers better explain.
“It ain’t over ‘til it’s over” and the “working hard theory” by Chil Bong is just a false hope and a try from the writers to make the “who’s the husband” question less obvious although it’s clear as the sun who she’s going to end up with. No developed romance for 13 episodes and you expect us to believe that there will be magic in the upcoming 8 episodes? That doesn’t make sense at all.
OMG, you guys express me correctly!
I will be sad if she doesn't end up with Chil Bong but I can see from a mile away who's the husband is even with the little hope that I am still hanging on.
Have you ever liked a drama but it feels painful to watch it? That's my case with Reply 1994.

Oh, okay. I must have missed that, but still, that doesn't mean that he got injured. Like I said, players at his current age are rare nowadays, and especially those who are pitchers. So, even if he did say that, there's still the possibility that he retired and/or got tired of playing. A lot of people think that great players never stopping loving the game, but that's sometimes not the case. There have been great players who've lost interest in the game or quit due to issues with it. The same goes for any sport. Dealing with teammates and coaches (as we've already seen) is sometimes like dealing with petulant teenage girls; they hold grudges, have jealousy, and are petty; therefore, sometimes there are stressors on and off the field that are unrelated to the game itself or its physicality.

I must have missed that part. The only time he referred to baseball in 2013 was when Na Jeong made a remark that Chilbong used to like to hear her swear. To which he replied that it's tiring to hear it for 20 years and back then he was innocent and baseball was all he ever did. To me, I think this implied that in 2013 he now has a lot to do other than baseball or in addition to baseball.
I forgot to post this screen cap of CB from Ep 7. This is about the best resolution (720p) I got.

If you notice his middle name, it looks something like this: 돌

Sorry for cutting your post...Sweetie, have you watched episode 11 yet? It will scrap #1. And I can't say anything more about #2 and #3. I quite agree Chilbong's character is a recipe for heartbreak. He's so second male lead material you can never see him getting the girl. And Trash has the upper-hand because ultimately, *[COLOR="white"]Na Jeong has feelings for him while Chilbong gets 0 love even after episode 11* (hint: we're halfway through the story). But what doesn't make me go on board with him is 1) skinship with Na Jeong for me is too much even for two people who consider themselves siblings in the beginning and much more so for chingudeul who are of the opposite sex and 2) he acts like a jerk and takes her for granted. His character is definitely male lead material, no?
* * *
Anyways, here's an interesting thing about the hubby's name and why Chilbong and Trash are such strong contenders.
We all know Na Jeong's hubby is named: Kim Jae Joon
Chilbong
1) We know that his first name includes Joon
2) We know his name is similar with Binggrae who is his maternal cousin. (I saw a comment say that they shared a 'dollimja'. I'll explain later.)
3) His surname is Kim.
Trash
1) His surname is Kim.
2) *His hyungdeul's names are: Jae Suk and Jae Young* (Ep 12)
3) *His name is also similar with Binggrae that the nurse mistook him as Trash's dongsaeng. * (Ep 12)
Binggrae:
1) His dongsaeng's name is Kim Dong Woo. :D
2) His mom and Chilbong's mom married different namjas who have the same surname (meaning they're both Kims)
So what's this dollimja? Apparently it's a traditional name given by parents to distinguish what generation level you are in a clan. A dollimja is one-syllable and is carried not only by your siblings but your cousins as well. Thus what distinguishes you from your generation level siblings and cousins is your true name. It can be added before or after your true name for example: Kim Jae Joon-Kim Jae Hyuk or Kim Hye Jung-Kim Na Jung. Traditionally, dollimjas are passed on to sons so it is more common for Korean men to have a dollimja even though the women have adapted this as well.
Ok, so here's the deal: in an earlier episode Binggrae called Chilbong 'Joon' meaning it's his true name or the name that distinguishes him from all his other cousins. In episode 12, Trash and his hyungdeul *also share the dollimja 'Jae' and the position is just before the true name. * Whatcha think? :D
I just realized that I didn't answer you, I apologize for that.
Well, I think we're familiar with Chil Bong's name by now. It's Kim....Joon and I know about the Korean way of naming their male children so everything is understood.
By now, have you gave up hope yet?

I am not saying that they should stay mad at each other, it's just that they were too friendly. You're right though, true friends don't keep grudge for too long and I always liked the friendship in this drama so in the last three episodes, I missed the friendship moments and laughs. I always thought that this drama's strength point is the characters' interactions.

I just want them to go back to their beautiful friendship and make this triangle less intense. I loved the drama in the first 10 episodes but afterwards, it lost some of its touch. I can conclude that because until 10 episodes, it was preshot while the three other episodes belong to the live shooting system that I hate with passion.

He said that he only cared about Baseball at that time but now, he can have other things to care about since he's a mature man. Also, I believe he can be too old to play Baseball. Anyway, I don't think it means that he stopped playing Baseball or that he got injured.
