Minguo(ROC) Dramas/Film

I rewatched in 2025 and still holds up as my ultimate favourite show. I don't think there might exist a single person that was as obsessed with this show as me. I just love this so much and will forever love and rewatch it. Even if it is not perfect or doesn't have extreme high quality writing and production quality, it is still written well enough and cinematography looks good enough for me unlike other pre 2023 cdramas (except that wig) and most of all, it has the best romantic pairing for me. It was like they made it for me. I cannot find a second show with a pairing like this and that is because it has a mix of all the things i love, not just one or 2 things.

Also, this show is attached with my best memories like I watched it back when i lived for a long time with my nana-nani and they passed away in 2024 so I keep remembering the times I spent at nani's house eating the food she cooked for us with love, going to the terrace with her, watching this show and then going to check what she is doing in between, sit along with her rewatching my fav parts as we sipped tea, all those memories come back to me.

And when I fully rewatched it years later, it served as a healing therapy to me, a person who almost went into depression due to one thing after other falling in life and as someone who couldn't really afford a therapist due to money reasons. I rewatched this when I had hopes of life changing so as to celebrate the end of misery and this motivated me so much I improved vastly at work.

So in a way not only do I love GYZ and XX to the moon and back but forever and ever and even in my next lifetime. Miss you nana and nani and love you forever too, these memories will be with me forever.

This one was not good enough. The costumes were so not it. Nothing like the era it is set in, some straight up looking like modern day clothing. The cinematography and overall production quality was bad too. No harmony of colors, no proper reconstruction. I refuse to believe this director did the wayyyy better 'Bloody Romance'. What stopped him to do that here?

Writing was bad too. FL is supposed to be a genius, the best of them all. Yet what I see is an arrogant and overconfident woman who is given a lot of plot armor. If she was a real person in that time, she would have never been able to work as a spy. A pity since I like ZLY, but she has so many better shows than this. Better watch those. 

The only likeable point was Manna. I found her so much more better than the FL. She was a complex character that deserved a better written and produced show. 

I cannot call this a product of it's time too since 'Battle of Changsha' and 'The Disguiser' were both mind-blowing and well researched/written/produced Minguo shows that were released before this show.
