1. Train to Busan
Korean Movie - 2016
This was an incredible movie. It had an outstanding script with a great mix of horror, comedy, and drama. However, the ending was a little too bittersweet for me. This had an excellent cast which did an incredible job with their characters. They also did an outstanding job with the cinematography, special effects/CGI, and FX make-up. This sort of has a sequel (Peninsula) that was good, but not as good as this movie.

8. Midnight Diner
Japanese Movie - 2015
This also includes “Midnight Diner 2” to make room for other movies. I recommend you watch the parent series first before you watch the movies. You don’t necessarily need to watch the parent series, but you are not going to know the movie’s silent nods to it. There are a lot of characters from the series in this that are just there if you don’t know their background storylines. The first movie was a great continuation of the parent series with a simplistic, but wonderful script. However, it was missing the quirkiness that I liked from the first two seasons. Although there was one main storyline, there were separate storylines that made it seem like various episodes edited together. As for the second movie, it was a successful continuation of the first movie that didn’t rely too much from that move or the parent series. The script was wonderful, a little more complex, and had a little more quirkiness that I was missing from the last movie. As always, the entire cast did an amazing job. Both movies still have the same hauntingly beautiful theme song from the series for the opening credits.
