1. His Man
Korean TV Show - 2022, 11 episodes
I thought this show was done very well. The production team showed a lot of respect towards the contestants with the exception of the last episode. My only complaint with the last episode is the final selection mission with the phone numbers. I thought this was very cruel as I watched it. In fact, two of the contestants made comments stating the very same thing.

2. His Man Season 2
Korean TV Show - 2023, 14 episodes
Overall, the second season was also good. However, I liked the first season more with the noted exception. My main complaint with this season was how very obvious the production company purposely tried to create conflict between the contestants. However, I like how they changed the final selection mission from the first season.

3. The Boyfriend
Japanese TV Show - 2024, 10 episodes
The overall concept for this was cool. This was done very well and showed a lot of respect to the contestants. The coffee truck idea and allowing the contestants leave for work/personal reasons was a refreshing change. My main complaint was the host/commentator aspect of the show which seems a common aspect with Japanese dating series. I was not a fan of this aspect of the show. The host themselves were fine, but felt this was unnecessary. I skipped their sections because I just wanted to watch the events unfolded without other people comments. There was also some questionable editing at times.

4. Boys Like Boys
Taiwanese TV Show - 2023, 10 episodes
This had a very similar format as “His Man”, but with a different vibe. This started off really good, but got weird by episode 5. The production team tried too hard creating unneeded drama. I was also not a fan of the shady editing. I didn’t understand the phone situation. Why give them cell phones if they had them calling into the guestroom phone? The finally was a little weird, but it ended on a very uplifting note.

5. Sparks Camp
Filipino TV Show - 2023, 8 episodes
This was done very well and showed a lot of respect towards the contestants. The one aspect I did not like was the physical games. This was unnecessary and was just an excuse to have the guys take off their shirts. They did a nice job with the final selection episode. However, I do question how much of this was “reality” were many times things seemed staged and/or scripted. There were some audio problems on the last episode.

6. Sparks Camp Season 2
Filipino TV Show - 2024, 8 episodes
I watched 4 episodes before dropping this. This started off good, but got worse by each episode. Many of the contestants became very unlikable. Once again, the physical gaming aspect was not needed and was just used as a gimmick to get the guys to take off their shirt. I also didn’t like the spark reveal twist that they used. On the positive, it had a more “reality” aspect compared to the first season. There were a few times the production company was not very respectful to the contestants.

7. Bromance
Thai TV Show - 2021, 10 episodes
I watched 3 episodes before I dropped it. I didn’t enjoy this series because it was basically a gay version of the U.S. Bachelor show. It was like watching a competition show instead of a dating show. I also didn’t like the “Dream Guy” because he didn’t seem authentic. It seemed like he was just there as a publicity stunt, not really there to find a date.
