    1. Children of Nobody

    Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes

    7.5

"Children of Nobody" is quite a good drama. The story is very original and impactful. There are a few things that bothered me, though, which is why I "only" rate the drama a 7.5/10, which is still good. The investigation took quite some time, which is realistic and was implied a few times; however, they did not manage well to portray such a duration. Furthermore, I find that the characters were lacking some depth. Albeit I acknowledge the tragedies and sufferings from their lives, I did not feel their pain. I actually did not care for them at all. Also, the FL, the child councellor, spoke sooo slowly that I got bored listening to her. I understand that she is suffering from trauma and behaves almost child-like due to unresolved and unknown issues, but that makes me question how she was able to function beforehand. Considering how she behaves how was she able to get to the point in life where she is? I reckon the car accident pushed the trauma, but still... Some stuff did not make sense. Also, the detective behaved so unprofessional. I would not want to be his partner. Nonetheless, I liked the darkness of the drama and that it was not purely action-driven. If they would have created some depth and more consistency and reality, this could have easily become a 9.5-10/10 drama. Still, I would recommend this to those who like dark thrillers. Furthermore, the child abuse portrayed in this drama was not too graphic, so if you are not too sensible, you can certainly stomach it. At some points, I was afraid that there could be sexual child abuse, but that type of criminal behaviour was not displayed or mentioned, which I am quite happy about. It could have driven the drama into a different direction, but the cruelty could have been too much for many viewers.

    2. I Picked Up a Star on the Road

    Korean Drama - 2018, 10 episodes

    7.5

A funny, relatively short drama that certainly includes Stockholm syndrome and lots of hostage and kidnapping situations. I can recommend this one as a filler drama.

    Watched: pre-March 2022.
