My "top" list (my all time favourites)
Among my all time favourites: a proper historical, two period dramas during the Reform and Opening Up, a Republican war series, a modern thriller, an environmental drama and a xianxia. This is a total subjective list that mixes objectively perfect dramas with imperfect ones., in no particular order.

Splendid and emotional drama. An absolutely must watch about the Resistance War against the Japanese Agression, focus on the citizens and soldiers rather than in lone heroes or big generals.
A cinematic experience with top notch acting. Grounded and realistic but also artistic and poetic.

I have no words to describe the masterpiece that this drama is, depicting an era of change that goes beyond imagination and precedent in history, through the lens of its three main protagonists, their families, and friends.
It deserves all the awards and recognition it has received. Don’t miss it—47 episodes that pass like fleeting time. You won’t want it to end… and luckily, it has seasons 2 and 3.

Tight thriller, with fierce social commentary and outstanding acting from the main lead, and very solid for the main cast too.
Very sad, very beautiful, very moving. Not for the faint of heart.

Epic historical drama during Kangxi era (Qing dynasty) . Powerful story and acting, it won't leave you untouched and its soundtrack will linger with you forever.

6. Till the End of the Moon
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
An epic ten thousand years fight between evil and good, told with focus on the character development of Tan Tai Jin and the tragic love story with his nemesis. Phylosophycal quest about fundamental human existence and more large concepts (fate, freedom of choice, individual vs collective good).
The show brought innovation to the genre, xianxia, in 2023. It was a trend setter in storytelling, main themes, aesthetics and CGI. Iconic main character, superbly portrayed by the lead actor.
