The treatment of the 11 year old is a problem. You do not ask an 11 year old you've just met if she wants to feel your boobs. You do not ask her if her boobs started growing and her nipples are sore. Just no.

Sometimes I feel like movies containing trans people get called 'beautiful', 'moving', 'profound', 'revolutionary' and whatnot just because there's a trans person in them, even if they're objectively not very good movies. As if it would be transphobic to think the movie just isn't very good. But I guess the cis people this movie was aimed at don't know better and just want to prove they're good people by proclaiming that watching the movie was a positively transformative experience for them, and that they got 'the message'.

If we want more good trans media, we're also going to have express when trans media isn't very good. 

Can we at least have the story told through the eyes of the trans person, instead of through the eyes of the people surrounding them coping with their existence? Can we empathize with the trans person, rather than treat them like a teachable moment, an oddity viewed from a distance? I wish there were trans movies where I, a trans person, am part of the target audience.

Also, there's no excuse for having Rinko be played by a cis man. The character is not even supposed to be early in her transition.

I like the thing where he feels protective over the only other guy in a female-dominated industry. That feels real. I don't like how as the show goes on, zero female background characters matter to the plot, the entire supporting cast is male.

The one guy is way too domineering and possessive and doesn't care whether the other guy consents to what's happening, and this is presented as normal and even romantic.

The relationship development feels much too fast and unnatural, and the flirting lines are recycled from old BLs. Pacing issues. Plot seems kinda cobbled together and directionless. Acting is fine but def not excellent. So many characters. So many nonsensical 'Oh my God I saw my girlfriend hug someone and am now going to run off crying and definitely will not communicate at all because she's obviously cheating' plot moments.

The production value is non-existent, and the plot and acting are nothing special, but I like that the main gets to be pretty femme, and the chemistry is there.

The usual trans comedic relief stereotypes but turned up to 1000%. I think this show was initially proposed with good intentions, but the punchline of every joke was essentially 'haha look at the contrast between them trying to be perfectly feminine, cute and desirable, and their loud, disgusting, aggressive, promiscuous, masculine reality'. 

I'm not against loud comedic transfeminine characters in general. We can reclaim that. 'I'm The Most Beautiful Count' is flipping brilliant. The comedy there relies on the contrast between the main character's loud modern queer pop star persona, and their conservative, utterly confused surroundings. The audience isn't constantly being prompted to laugh at Worradech's expense/ at their gender norm failures. Worradech has a sense of humor and we're laughing with them, not at them.

So I think you should go watch 'I'm the Most Beautiful Count' instead of this.

Based on the trailer I thought this would be trashy and unoriginal but it's surprising me. The guy who plays Ice is doing really well on the acting actually. And this attempts to stand up for sex workers' rights and dignity, as well as for actors' privacy, and I appreciate that. It feels really genuine.

The thing that's hitting me most in this is Win's struggle with her mom, who doesn't believe in any of this ghost nonsense. She just sees Win failing at life, blames her for it, and believes she's doing what's best for Win's future. The way Win wants to be a functioning human out in society so badly, but just can't, and the way she feels guilty towards her parents for it, all of that feels so real. The person who wrote this knows what that feels like, having a disability that prevents you from having a job. I wonder if the author has mental health issues that cause hallucinations like these.

Anarchism means anti-hierarchy (y'know like 'an-archy'), and here we've got noble 'anarchists' smoking cigars being arrogant pricks towards their military uniform-wearing servants, and there's not a woman to be seen among them. Why even call them anarchists at that point? The protagonists are being much more anarchist, given the whole 'going against social norms in order to love beyond class and gender' -thing. The protagnists even somewhat attempt to drop honorifics between servants and masters,  a very anarchist thing that the villains absolutely don't do.

This can be pretty funny and dramatic, but be warned that it is majorly toxic and regressive in the 'dark romance' sense. This kind of behavior can be fun to watch in fiction, but it has to stay fictional. 

Unpopular opinion, but there were many points at which I wanted to drop this. There's so many reasons: the toxicity, the way everything they do and say is calculated, the way that sex is represented as scary, painful, inevitable and not super consensual, the endless coincidences that lead to incredibly improbable misunderstandings which of course will not be cleared up because every conversation is a game of chess and people are keeping all their cards close to their chests, the sheer callousness and active malice that every character displays from time to time, the dragged out tragedies, etc. It's not my type of story. 

The reason I didn't drop it is because Mainland Chinese BL censorship was a special interest of mine, and I can't let it go yet.

Deceptively, at the start this feels a bit like a standard 2020 era BL, but it has queerer intentions than that. This intends to deal with both homophobia and transphobia head on and I am really looking forward to more. Also it's really funny and cute and I really love it.
