My Watched in 2026

It had promise but it didn’t fully reach its potential. It felt like the writers wanted to tackle certain themes but struggled to deliver them. Lovable characters seem to fade into either dullness or unlikability. 

Very promising concept and fun start. But the secondary couple was far more interesting than the primary. The ending was disappointing for both couples. And who taught these men how to kiss?

Several continuity errors. But a sweet romance, good acting and generally entertaining. The misunderstanding is suitably heartbreaking and believable for the characters’ personalities (stubborn and immature versus closed off).

Diabolical mental health representation. Very weird plot. Unlikable characters. And of course my favourite was the baddie.

Very bizarre movie. Got a few chuckles from me but mainly confusion (the story is simple but some chronology/editing choices were weird).

I couldn’t get my head around how the main character forgave the cruelty. His oppressor’s reasoning doesn’t convince me.

This was lovely and gave me a more emotionally mature Call Me by Your Name vibe. Adored the lead actor Miyazawa Hio.

The entire first half of the movie, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it did, it was devastating. I love this film but it’s painful, so it’ll take a while before I could watch it again.

Didn’t make as much of an impact as I hoped. Felt a little too weird and directionless.

This one was gritty and cruel and so well made but left me hollowed out after. Heartwrenching.

A sweet, subdued rural romance that gives me a much softer Gods Own Country vibe.

Funny and sweet. It gives a few giggles but the story is a little bland. Thee is too immature to be a believable as a CEO and it makes the romance unbelievable, too. He is likable though. Feel good viewing.

Cool visuals. The dubbing is distracting. Believably brutal triad love interest while still upkeeping the funny tone.

Went into this completely blind and found it to be far darker than anticipated. But it was a very strong, important story (especially when it inhabits a space that frequently romanticises these issues). It's heartwrenching but totally believable.

It was the perfect length. I just wish there was more variation in music (and the music was probably the most mislieading thing about the story.)

Sweet and concise story with an emotionally believable storyline. There were genuinely funny moments and Nozue and Togawa are likeable.
