They toned down the wackiness of the novel by A LOT and lowkey that was the right decision but at the same time I would have loved to see them go all out with the crack. In the end, it's just the right ratio of humour/drama, like old school BLs used to have. Thanks, Chinese broadcasting law loopholes.
