I'm at episode 4 and don't like the leads so far at all. Very jaded, have serious trust issues and both look like they need to go see a therapist. FL is self righteous, collects men archetypes, sees the worst in them all the time and is borderline misandric, she likes to beat up men literally and metaphorically as a hobby. ML sees every woman as a gold digger and frankly gives a latent gay vibe. Those who completed this drama, tell me they gonna explain their hate towards the other sex later and put a band aid on it or something. I don't like watching media where people hate on the other gender/sex for no good reason other than just being mental.
I was going to ask if it their was a love triangle but I see you mentioned a love square can you elaborate, how…
It's pretty annoying. There's SFL who is bitchy to FL and who was ML's girlfriend when he was human. After he died and Kokdu possessed him she's still understandably clingy, even though he rudely told her to f*ck off, because he only needs FL to break his curse and doesn't even remember that chick.
Then there's FL's golfer ex-boyfriend from college times who cheated on her with another girl. Now he got entangled with her again because of the main villain and seemingly wants to get together again, even though she told him to f*ck off numerious times because he's an arrogant d*ck. That's about it.
Something is lacking in this drama, maybe comedy isn't funny or FL's acting is killing the mood, but it's really boring somehow. Also, an annoying love square doesn't help whatsoever. Why they think every romance drama has to have this trope?
Finally got around to watch this drama and it was a gigantic disappointment. Yet another one of those grossly overrated dramas with draggy plot, dumbassery and eyeroll worthy villains. And a waste of KSJ's talents as well, she can do much better than doing cheesy fighting and making a tired face all the time. The rest of the cast was very meh, the actor who played amnesiac cop seems to have been typecasted into Alchemy of Souls for his slowpoke role here. My recommendation would be - drop this snorefest and watch Tomorrow.
The posters with the bullies are brutal. Revenge execution is incoming 😱! But I also like how posters with FL's allies have completely different expressions.
Anybody who read the original Chinese novel, spoil me - is this more of a detective story or romantic story? I've read that FL is gonna be like Joseon version of female Sherlock Holmes or smth. And what's gonna happen to the lead characters in the end?
I need to have a nice chat with whoever made the decision to split the show up! I knew I should’ve waited for…
It's Netflix bs. Since covid is in decline and less people work from home their revenue plummeted. So they're beside themselves thinking of new ways how to keep subscribers subbed. One of the things they've invented is splitting tv series into parts, hoping subscribers will stay until the next part airs. Dumb af, if you ask me.
It was a very hard watch for me, I usually get too frustrated with bullying plots and drop them. But I stayed for sad and gripping FL's story. She's definitely nuts, I doubt it will end well for her, but I'm 100% rooting for her to exact revenge. The bastards who tortured her showed no remorse or character development in their adult years. They must face justice and reflect on what they've done. Unlike the irl story this drama is based upon, legal ways of nailing them were unavailable to FL from the start due to neglect and widespread corruption. So I'm down with any means FL is planning to achieve her revenge.
My only complaint that it's been 8 episodes and FL's plans barely progressed - it was all about the backstory, pre-planning, getting allies and dropping all the lures for those awful inhuman bullies to tear themselves apart on their own. I hope in part 2 they'll get down to final execution of FL's plans and unraveling of the main evil bitch.
I last called the Her Private Life product placement more "stupidly obvious" than the average, but here it's really…
That device costs only $250, I'm sure FL's friend could afford it. But some ppls were really out of place, not gonna lie. Especially that scene where Gotop's cleaning lady, who has no money for her son's surgery, was talking on a top tier Samsung folding phone that costs $1.5K+ 🤣! I doubt that it was ex-secretaries club that gifted it to her, they're not well off as well. Just yet another ppl. But whatcha gonna do? It's a kdrama, they always have ppls in contemporary kdramas to fund production. Just gotta accept it. I only wonder how they even manage to find money to release historical kdramas? They can't put ppls in there 🤔.
Where can they find tall apartments ???? If they fall from 2storey or 3 storey nothing will happens except some…
If you fall into a river from a high cliff you can also break something, especially your back, and most likely will drown because you'll get knocked unconscious from impact. But FLs in saeguks are jumping from cliffs like it's a low dive into a pool or something.
I'm not saying the first episode was bad, but haven't we seen all this before? Even just recently in The Forbidden Marriage? Some bored, power hungry cliche of a minister tries to discredit ML and to fool him by making him believe in some nonsence like ghosts and curses. FL is hiding from people who want to kill her and wants to clear her name, and falls safely from an iconic cliff (in The Forbidden Marriage it even happened twice, from the same cliff 🙄) while running away from them. And it seems there's gonna be an obligatory love triangle just like in...you guessed it, The Forbidden Marriage! FL was supposed to marry SML who is serving ML and is his friend. The only sorta new thing here is that FL knows how to fight and pretends to be a man, but even that we've seen before in saeguks (and again, in very recent The Forbidden Marriage - with a hunt and FL wearing male clothes).
Sigh, where is the fresh stuff like in Kingdom or Alchemy of Souls? It happens only every blue moon it seems.
This year was also the year of "bullies". So many dramas treating the theme of bullying (that are blatant dreadful…
SK likes filming kdramas about the hot topics of the day. Looks like human rights issues, bullying included, is one of the top concerns currently, along with everpresent corruption. I find dramas about bullying very hard to watch, usually drop them, because I just can't. I'm trudging through The Glory though, as it's mostly about years long planning of revenge after the bullying.
My favorite one is May It Please The Court - no dumbassery or circus in court, smart mystery plot, great character development and satisfying ending that wasn't rushed much. One Dollar Lawyer could have been the best with its stellar cast, but their talents were wasted on a disappointing mess of a plot. The beginning was very promising though. I've heard the plot suffered because there were some issues between the writer, production studio and tv network it aired on.
Your comment is full of hate. If you hate this drama this much, just don't watch.
First, don't tell people what to do here. Second, it's not and you're seeing things. I'm just writing how it is right now, but I also wrote that it's entertaining. Let's see how it develops, I'm not dropping it yet.
The second episode was better, but the first was the most rushed, incoherent beginning of a kdrama I've ever seen. Usually they rush and skip things at the end, but this one is rather unusual in that it hurries somewhere at breakneck speed from the start, with full 16 episodes still to go. Seriously, wtf. Anyway, it's not boring at least, quite entertaining actually, despite the somewhat cringy overacting. And it's ML actor this time, not FL actress, her usually wooden face got much better here. The story so far is a mess, hopefully it gets better. Looks like yet another reincarnation/destined together type of drama, or simply put, Goblin copycat 🙄.
