I dropped it as well, read episodes recaps after and I donβt regret dropping it. It went downhill after eight…
BE was worse because I figured out what happened after half the episodes and there was nothing of interest left there except annoyingly self-righteous younger ML's obssession with older ML. I'm not into weird bromance shit, so I rated it very low overall. In Link at least there was romance, quirky SML and SFL and funny FL's mom and grandma. And I didn't figure out the villain until he was revealed, because there were no clues or motives given to his actions. Just some random dude from the neighbourhood. But still, criminal mystery part in Link is just terribly written, there is no justification here, no matter how much some people here are trying to defend this drama.
I think that character is like that cause of his past, maybe he's also a normal guy and will end up with so yeon…
Yea, and it's not like every person who had a tough or tragic past becomes such a rotten bastard. Most people don't actually. I actually think he was raised that way, many notions and preconceptions children have come from their biased parents. And there is nothing that would excuse his nasty behaviour anyway, especially towards a disabled person.
I cant believe that such system was there in academies where they are forced to study till 10 pm i mean im glad…
Yea, most of the Asian kids whose parents can afford it go to secondary schools/academies/etc. And they're all for pay. Gotta wonder what they teach if anything in their public schools. Completely rotten system and very unfair to children of poor families, it creates an even bigger gap with each new generation.
There was this very nice drama called Crazy Love, which came out this year. It was about a private education field. I now realize why so competitive and how very profitable this field is and how much money those companies earn. ML there even said that he was sick to death of training kids every year to succefully pass exams, but he loooved money π
It looks like it is very challenging to live with an autistic person, judging by FL father's experience. I don't think ML is overthinking it, it is a big decision. And FL won't understand and will get very hurt if he dumps her. She already has very low self esteem when it comes to romantic relationships. That's why he's so hesitant to start anything. But on the bright side, if he does start it, he'll never get bored for sureπ - FL today was hilarious, how she literally repeated every man's courtesy gesture to a woman with ML.
Damn! this makes me happy that I live in a country where school means nothing and all the decent jobs go to people…
I suppose every parent wants their child to exceed them, or they try to realize their failed dreams through their children. Or like in that episode with Pengsoo - a child is a parent's business card. Mind, not a person, an object π€¦ββοΈ
Damn! this makes me happy that I live in a country where school means nothing and all the decent jobs go to people…
In SK you also won't get any decent job without connections, even with high grades π€£ They've got double barriers there for young graduates. Nepotism ir running rampant there, that's why there are so many dramas about it. So totally understandable some just give up and decide lay flat, just like that movement in China.
Iβve also seen a documentary recently that 50% of Chinese graduates canβt find a job after. And there are millions of them every year. Their parents spend all their savings on their education and in the end many kids have to reprofile. It seems that everybody wants to be a manager in the office instead of less prestigious but surprisingly bigger salary job. Like a professional plumber, for example, lol.
Episode 9 was covering a hot issue. Those poor Asian kids, they have no life since they start school. Itβs a real crime that they have to study more hours every day than adults work. Their society makes them very competitive and anxious about being able to enter the best university to get the best jobβ¦in the office from the very bottom. With inflation and higher prices than it was during the times their parents were the same age itβs no wonder they overwork themselves to death, canβt afford to buy a flat let alone a house , and have to wait decades for promotions because promotions are gained by years slaved at the company not merit, and older colleauges keep working into very old age before going to pension. They train young generations to be like hamsters running on a wheel, perpetually running after success. No wonder there are so many suicides there. SK and Japan top the list every year.
everyone I have a question....why does Kwon Jung rok call oh yoon seo. oh jin shim??
Oh Yoon-Seo is FL's stage name/pseudonym. Her real name is Oh Jin-Shim. Why he calls her by the real name when nobody else does is explained by him in one of the later episodes. Basically, he first thought it proper since she was there to work at the law firm undercover, not as a celebrity. And then they both agreed that it's cute that only he calls her by her real name, can immediately distinguish it's him.
Also, her real name is unusual and kinda funny, maybe that's why it was changed for a stage name. This drama's and novel's Korean title is "Jinsimi Dadda" which literally means "Reach of Sincerity", so there is a play on her real name in the title. As a noun jinsim is translated as sincerity from Korean.
Is it worth watching it? Any romance? I hate action dramas but I really like the actors
There is plenty of romance here. I'd say more than necessary actually, with all the love triangles. And action scenes are sparse, it'more of a fantasy historical drama with comedic elements.
-It can shift: βοΈ->π₯->π->π§->βοΈ-It can make black powder for soul shifting π« -It can raise…
No, she clearly wasn't forced. And Jin Mu is her uncle, he probably told her some lie. Why they were in that spot on the lake is unclear, but fake Queen also was making black powder there. Maybe that's where the Ice Stone is hidden, or it needs to be on the lake, surrounded by all the water to use it.
-It can shift: βοΈ->π₯->π->π§->βοΈ-It can make black powder for soul shifting π« -It can raise…
Yea, Bu-Yeon for example was revealed to be born with the help of the Ice Stone. And whenever she uses her powers as Mu-Deok it temporarily blinds her. If she was in control with full powers she'd probably turn permanently blind again.
-It can shift: βοΈ->π₯->π->π§->βοΈ-It can make black powder for soul shifting π« -It can raise…
π Btw, continuing water dragon theory. I dunno if you play video games, but there was this rather old one called Jade Empire. The plot there had some similarities. There was a big drought (a cyclical natural occurence involving water dragon's life span), which the villainous emperor solved by slaying the water dragon. Her blood/water started perpetually pouring from her giant body hidden in the Royal Palace, which ended the drought. But with a caveat, the water dragon not only supervised the distribution of water supplies and rainfall to the mortal world, but also shepherded the souls of the dead along the Great Wheel β the cycle of life, death and rebirth. And since she died, restless ghosts started roaming the land.
-It can shift: βοΈ->π₯->π->π§->βοΈ-It can make black powder for soul shifting π« -It can raise…
Nah, she was totally preoccupied by the Ice Stone. And Jin Mu had her obviously fooled, probably pretended to be a good Jin uncle with a mission for her. And then he drowned her in the lake. Like a good uncle π
-It can shift: βοΈ->π₯->π->π§->βοΈ-It can make black powder for soul shifting π« -It can raise…
Btw, it can also make tornado like wind πͺοΈ. Both Choi mage from the past and Bu-Yeon made it using the Ice Stone. So it can make all elements π§β°οΈπ₯πͺοΈ and can affect souls π». (It's The Fifth Element, guys! π€£) What's more interesting, when Choi mage summoned the tornado it showed him silouettes of two people - a man (Songrim founder?) and a blindfolded woman (Jin founder from the ritual?). Maybe it can show the future? Maybe Bu-Yeon also saw something in it and that's why she was smiling? Like, that she will get soul shifted with Naksu?

There's a spot-on PSY's music video about this:

More about water dragon there, everything probably based on Chinese myths and folklore about water dragons:
