Yea, I also think that overbearing control over such person and continued treatment of her as a child has detrimental effects. It's bad even for normal children, they have problems socializing and becoming independent adults later on. As FL said to her dad in an earlier episode she wants to make mistakes and be discouraged, his overprotectiveness hinders her as an adult.

Also, girl's mother really needed to chill, she was giving giant red flags of misandry. She probably was bitter of her own experiences with men and didn't want to let her daughter anywhere near them.

Yea, but you were saying he should be in jail for not asking consent from her mother/legal guardian. Generally speaking, adults are not legally obliged to ask for consent to have sex with someone, we're not living in medieval ages (although some Arabic countries put a dent on this). It's just good manners to introduce yourself to the parents, but most people do only when they're very serious about their relationship and are planning to live together. For example, that Choi Soo Yeon character definitely won't be introducing her flings and one night stands to her parents.
So youngsters having casual or budding relationship go about it however they want.
So this returns me to the mental age question, which I think is your primary motivation for pinning the guy as a villlain. But as this drama showed - it's a legally grey area and consent was required only of the victim. And there wasn't a conclusive evidence he didn't get it.
