If FL for part 2 will be a rookie who can't act that will be a big bummer. You gotta admit that big part of the charm of this show is Jung So Min's acting.

Personally, I don't know what to think about FL potentially being replaced with another actress, even though it's original Naksu. I mean, it's her acting I really like. I'm not sure a rookie can pull off this role in a satisfying way. Also, it kinda spoils the ending of part 1? Naksu will come back alive in her own body? Or will this be a completely different actress for part 2, like yet another body? Also not gonna like it I think.

As for the plot they're planning for part 2, I'd be upset if it's a direct sequel and part 1 ends on a sad cliffhanger. I'd be ok though if it was a prequel about Naksu's assassin days or smth, or if part 1 is self-contained.

Alchemy of souls is Ice Stone's magic and there is a reason they've showed it change its properties: from ice-> to fire-> to stone-> to water-> to ice again. It's similar to the philosopher's stone in Western alchemy - a mythical object that can change lead to gold. And in Asian culture elements, transformation of elements and reincarnation beliefs go deep as well. Perhaps soul shifters turning to stone is just the next phase in a cycle of transformation of matter. Perhaps petrified bodies can turn back to life if Ice Stone power is applied. It's already revealed it can stop the petrifying process, so maybe it can reverse it as well. All those statues down in the lake...

Not necessarily. There were successful dramas earlier that didn't get planned sequels due to various reasons, be it funding troubles, conflicting schedules, covid, etc.

Hong sisters aside, many dramas lately, while having interesting premises and great beginnings, don't seem to know how to end properly. They frequently drag in the later half; or have biggest reveals crammed into the last two episodes and end up being rushed with abrupt endings; or have weird endings where characters start behaving out of character (latest dire offender is Kiss Sixth Sense); or all of the above.
All I'm saying, lots of things can go wrong with AoS in the second half, I'm holding my self cautiously optimistic, but keeping other dramas' endings in mind.

Part 2 is not officially confirmed. The only thing that is known is that the writers want to extend the story into part 2 and are writing the script. Whether part 2 will air at all or what sort of plot it will have is not known. It may be a side story, prequel, sequel or whatever. I just hope part 1 is self-contained.

I always felt open endings are unsatisfactory and usually mean lazy writing, or that the writer didn't know how to wrap up the story in a satisfactory way.

I liked that they didn't drag this revenge on the noble families plot point. Now she can focus on fiding out the real culprit.

I don’t drop dramas when I start watching them usually. And this one was pretty interesting until about episode 8. But also it may be the first I’ll drop.
