I love how strange this drama is...Like its so unsettling. I feel like something is dreadfully wrong but I can't…
It's because you get a dissonance from FL's character. We're shown she's clearly unwell mentally, but she also at the same time is very sharp minded, kind, cunning and vengeful. Lots of opposite things going on with her character, making it look like half the things she says are fake and not genuine, all with that innocent smile, leaving an unsettling feeling.
It would have made a nice thriller with unhinged FL, if they dared lean into it. But I guess we're gonna get some sort of healing plot for her down the line instead, if that's possible. She talks big about asking for help, but keeps quiet about her problems herself.
Now I'm interested in Ye Ying and the Assassin ๐
Forget about it. SFL is too dumb to know what's good for her. I'm predicting she's gonna die in the end because of her dumb plotting. It's an archetype in historical cdramas, they never end well.
Loving it so far, but the nicer third uncle is the more I feel like he go be the final and the worst of all villains๐ฌ
The third uncle needs more screen time, he's funny. He also looks like a positive influence for the nephew, that kid needs a dad and ML is totally absent in the household duties.
I'm not sure I like this childhood connection all over the leads backstory. A very tired trope and they've not made it like a subtle coincidence here either. FL was basically looking for ML's attention ever since he saved her, looks like.
Also, the drama's plot starts to slow down, I hope it's not a sign of things to come.
Cheng Lei's next drama after this is of Republican era. He is currently filming for a modern drama. He is rumoured…
In which drama Bai Lu is gonna be next is still up to debate until she resolves her expiring contract with her agency. What you're referring to was just her talking about what she'd like to do next. Officially she has no upcoming projects, she's taking a break, doing variety shows, etc. There's that Unveil: Jadewind S2 official announcement, but it's years away from potential release and leads aren't confirmed yet to return (even though the teaser at the end of S1 and already written synopsis heavily imply FL must return). So who who knows.
I bingewatched the first seven episodes in a day. Bai Lu looks very pretty, and the makeup is good. Ye Li seemed…
I don't think FL could have a say in arranged marriage, but either way she got off the mountain for revenge. The marriage was a ticket out. It's very unclear why nobody went to check up on the people on the mountain, or how she got the message that she has to return without the messenger not spotting that there's something wrong up there. Looks like nobody except FL and 1 helper guy knows what happened there.
The fat guy was an underling of the main villain, who killed people from the mountain, though it's unclear whether they were persecuted graduates who left before disaster struck, or permanent mountain dwellers themselves.
Empress Dowager is the mother of the young emperor. She holds a grudge towards a lot of people who mistreated her when she was a concubine.
