I'm thinking maybe ML's brother is the son of said unknown party. Step mother was talking about some business man (?) guy, unless of course she was lying and it secretly was the butler, lol.
So maybe that's what the premise will be for season 2? Revenge on that third party?
Personally, I'd like this whole mother murder case to be made simple and to end in season 1. Ain't nobody got time to watch this case being investigated for whooping 4 seasons.

I've just read the synopsis of the og TV series this drama is based on. There's gonna be a third party involved in the murder of ML mother's death? And ML's gonna be sent to jail for attempted murder of said party??
I wonder how close they're gonna follow the og plot 🤔Judging by the more in depth version of the Russian wiki page not a lot has been transferred to SK adaptation, aside from the main premise. But who knows what they'll do next. The og TV series seems to have had a rather draggy story with lots of murdered main and support characters, spanning 4 seasons + 2 extra movie episodes, with 5th season being planned for this year.

Best drama of this year so far globally, no contest.
That's what happens when you take a proven bestseller source material and don't try to rewrite it for the "modern audiences" with activist messages.
Significant time was spent on combing its production to perfection, from sets and costumes to the archaic use of language, all for the sake of real authenticity.

I think all his personal problems will be solved in season 1, with season 2 bringing new stories. And also romance between the leads that should have been here, but there was barely a hint so far.

You and the other guy understood nothing about the plot and weren't following ML's redemption arc close enough. It wasn't a spontaneous change, but I guess subtle hints when he started to change his attitude and when the protagonists started to like each other are lost on some viewers. And disregarding what's been done to ML by other characters is just looking at it from a skewed perspective. There were many characters here who did bad things for the sake of their own selfish gains and most of them even admitted being in the wrong by the end of this drama.
Yea, it's a tropey drama using popular cliches, but many a time it tried to subvert them. It's also been done for entertainment, so of course some things will be over the top. And I can understand being pissed off by some characters behavior, but saying it's nonsense is just too much.

She's more into action dramas. You can watch her ace it in Ballerina movie or Money Heist: Korea.

I agree. LDH was living a lie all that time, I can only imagine how suffocating that is. I don't know how's the attitude towards gay people nowadays in SK, but is it really that bad that one has to live like a criminal hiding one's crimes? It's just how a person is, nothing's wrong with that. People would mull it over for a while, but nobody actually cares. And he wasn't even a public figure until his grandpa dragged him into the lime light. I don't understand why he couldn't talk to grandpa privately about it, maybe grandpa wouldn't be insisting on making him company's CEO after that and all his problems would be gone. Not much of a plot that way, of course. But miscommunication in this drama is mind boggling.

Just watch and see how she'll be trying to wedge herself between them from now on. These types of characters always do.
And ML didn't lead her on, he got over her long ago. But she herself finally realized she's into ML recently and decided to act on it.
In his eyes they're just friends now and he seems to be too nice to her to turn her down for now.

Well, what's done's done. Maybe not a good choice, but this actress was chosen and we'll have to deal with that.
But yea, there's dissonance watching her delivering dead pan performances in very emotional scenes. Some people were saying that she acts natural, but it's too natural for acting in a drama. And she's acting like that even when she's acting, if you know what I mean.

ML did good though, angst was palpable.

It's an affair to the outsiders. It's not for those in the know. It's complicated.
But it sure will be used by brothers' crap ass family against them.

I think it's partially "dead fish" eyes effect. Some people just have expressionless eyes like that give that samey facial expression all the time. No offence to the actress, she's doing her best.

Today's episode was the turning point of turning SFL into a cliche jealous bish. Well, can't say it's surprising, can't ever have a nice character in that role.
