They look so lovely together... Wonder how they met😍
SeungGi acted with her sister in Gu Family Book, and apparently DaIn was his fan and asked to meet him. Not sure if it was the sister who introduced them, or someone else who knows them both, but yeah, they connected while playing golf.
Is there any way to go and congratulate them in person? Contact their agency?? Big fan of lee seungi for many…
The physical and email addresses of his agency are at the bottom of his official website: https://www.leeseunggi.co.kr I sincerely doubt that showing up in person at his agency will get you a meeting with him. But if you're willing to travel at short notice, he has a bunch of public appearances all over Asia this month: https://tzfrosal.wixsite.com/always-lee-seung-gi/calendar
do you know where to watch the full show? ive searched everywhere but havent found it yet
I only watched on youtube. They have clips with each singer and some with judges' comments. If you watch all the clips together, it's almost the entire show cut into small pieces. Personally, I prefer it that way - easier to browse and skip past mediocre singers. I do wish they had more clips with Lee Seung Gi, but oh well.
There's an article in KoreaJongAngDaily about how My Dearest is an adaptation of Gone With Wind. Adaptation is…
Hmm, there's only one factual statement in that article, which is that Korean copyright law protects a work for 70 years. However, US copyright law protects for 100 years, and it's not clear which one applies here.
Of course, there's the question of copyright vs. the 'fair use' doctrine. Iiuc, that's actually what the article claims: that there are sufficient differences between 'My Dearest" and GWTW [so that 'fair use' applies]. But proving 'fair use' is incredibly complex - witness the 'Google v. Oracle' lawsuit which took years to be settled, and went all the way to the US Supreme Court.
I'm not a lawyer, so I don't have an opinion either way. I just know enough to know that I don't know enough about this issue. :-)
Here's the GWTW story. You can all decide for yourselves if this kdrama is inspired by it, adapted from it, or…
7. The North takes Atlanta. Scarlett saves herself and Melanie from the soldiers, and Rhett arrives to help them. Scarlett begs him to stay with them, but he refuses and returns to war. 8. The women return home. There's widespread famine. Scarlett's mother has died and her father lost his mind. Scarlett works in the fields to feed her family. 9. Ashley returns home and tells Scarlett he desires her, but won't leave Melanie. 10. To save her family from poverty, Scarlett marries rich man Frank (minor character).
And there you have it, folks! The rest of GWTW may be a spoiler for the 2nd season, so I won't put it here. You can find it for yourselves if you want.
Here's the GWTW story. You can all decide for yourselves if this kdrama is inspired by it, adapted from it, or whatever other label you prefer. This summary stops around the same point as season 1.
Character Guide: FL = Scarlett, ML = Rhett, SFL = Melanie, SML = Ashley
1. Scarlett is the local belle that all the young men want. But she only wants Ashley. 2. Ashley gets engaged to Melanie. Scarlett throws herself at him, but he rebuffs her. The incident is witnessed by Rhett, who mocks Scarlett for it. 3. Rhett is a visitor to the area. He is reputed to be a womanizer and gambler. He is rich, but his background is shady. 4. The engagement party gets interrupted by news of war. All the young men volunteer & believe they'll wipe out the Northern army in a few days. 5. To make Ashley jealous, Scarlett marries Charles (minor character). Charles soon dies in the war, along with many of the town's young men. 6. Scarlett & Melanie end up in Atlanta, which is under siege by the North. Scarlett ensures their daily survival, and helps Melanie give birth. (Melanie & Ashley got married before the war).
Are you sure that its an adaptation? So you claim that the korean writer illegally adapted the GWTW story? Do…
I'm not concerned about legal matters at all. Maybe they bought rights, maybe the differences in historical and geographic settings are enough for this kdrama to be considered transformative. Remakes are done all the time. Not sure why you're insulting me out of the blue.
Oh, and to be clear: This isn't just a personal opinion about the source material. Apparently, the drama writer herself said the script is inspired by GWTW.
I've seen some people saying, "Stop comparing with Gone With The Wind, already!" But this really *is* GWTW-Korea, so for those unfamiliar with the original story, I recommend you read a summary on wikipedia. Then you won't feel so angry, or disappointed, or whatever. So far, the character arcs have followed the original ones very closely, and - spoiler alert - it will get even worse before it gets better. However, I suspect that this version will have a happier ending than the original, which was very cynical. I don't think k-drama viewers would accept such an ending, so we'll probably get a glorious fated-to-be love story in the last couple of episodes.
Disclaimer: I've only watched ep. 1-6, but have read enough comments about ep. 7-10 to be reasonably sure this is the same story. I'm not a fan of GWTW, but tons of people loved it, so you'll probably love this k-drama, too. But it won't be what you expect.
B/c it would have been bad TV to have Ji Bros win w/ 25K, while Shi Bros ended up w/ 1K. That part was so clearly…
Have you seen "New World" on Netflix? It's a VS where at the end the winner has a choice: take the (real) money, or keep its equivalent in game money, so s/he can come back in S2 with that money. The winner pretends to agonize over the choice, then chooses to keep the game money for S2. Yeah, right! And S2 never got made.
I won't spoil it for you, in case you haven't seen it. The show itself is great, and much more complicated than Bro&Marble (maybe a bit too complicated). It's full of A-listers, including Lee Seung Gi.
I'm sorry but I still don't understand how Shi Bros cracked the code so quickly when Ji Bros were also following…
B/c it would have been bad TV to have Ji Bros win w/ 25K, while Shi Bros ended up w/ 1K. That part was so clearly edited! That's why they never showed explicitly the Ji Bros figuring out the code, though they did start w/ the correct one. And then, it didn't work b/c...? I guess we're meant to think they mistyped it. And so did the other team? B/c Shi bros arrived last but magically finished first! In reality, those boxes opened when the production crew wanted them to open, and not a moment sooner! :-)
I would not call Yeon Jun cowardly, but rather weak and idealistically dumb. Because technically speaking he was…
Yes, stupid and brave are practically synonyms from my pov. :-) But to me bravery is more than doing something dangerous despite being afraid. If the SML was a decent fighter, I'd consider him brave (AND stupid!). I did think that before his first fight. But since then, he's proven an utter disaster, and he puts others in danger all the time. So this is no longer brave. It's just stupid. And very very selfish.
I would not call Yeon Jun cowardly, but rather weak and idealistically dumb. Because technically speaking he was…
Well, if the SML was a good fighter and he went to war, leaving his family and fiancee to fend for themselves, most people would consider him a hero - putting country above all else, selfless, brave etc.
But he's a terrible fighter, who found out in his first battle just how bad he is. As such, his insistence to keep going is nothing but self-righteousness and selfishness. He not only doesn't help his country, he's endangering others with his incompetence. He might possibly be of some help to his fiancee (though the FL is a lot more useful than him!), but he's too much of a pompous ass to shoulder his responsibilities. He's just a toddler playing at being a grownup. And I don't think he's brave. I think he's in love with his self-image.
I don't know why people are angry with fl, if all understandings are cleared now and both leads confess their…
Speaking for myself, my frustration is with bad writing that has to rely on silly tropes b/c they can't come up with anything original. If they can't find a way to have characters evolve realistically and behave like adults, then they shouldn't write 20-episode dramas. They should finish in <10 episodes. Btw, this is a general comment that applies to almost every k-drama I've seen.
Spring 1659 10th year of king Hyojong's reign - 23 years AFTER the events we follow right now. PEOPLEKing Hyojong…
Character development so far follows 'Gone With the Wind' to a T, even if the situations don't.
So, at a guess, Yeon Jun will never face reality, b/c pompous asses never do. He'll continue to be saved by others and float through life unencumbered by worries or responsibilities. (Man, I absolutely despised Ashley in GWTW). Plus, who in their right mind would make him an officer, given his fighting skills?!
Eun Ae will likely die, maybe in childbirth, maybe during the war.
As for the ML/FL, not clear if they'll follow GWTW-the book, or GWTW-the movie, or something else.
Ryang Eum doesn't have a correspondent in GWTW, so he's the dash-of-something-else the K-writer decided to create. Given this, the mysterious prisoner may be someone we have yet to meet, but my money is on RE.
PS: Not marking this 'spoiler' since I'm only spoiling GWTW.
Maybe it's Gilchae pretending to be a man (she's already done it once). That character is very sure that Jang Hyun will keep his promise and come. And we've just been shown an instance where JH promised to find her and did - against all odds. If this happens a couple more time, GC may very well believe that JH will keep his word no matter what.
it's kinda obvious that 'Shi bro' might not won this game but my carat heart can't accept it 😭😭
Are you serious? They've already won - big time! They're a variety show revelation. I don't know or care about boy bands, but I sure want to watch these guys again. They're so sweet, yet so devious! Plus, SeungGi is crazy about them! And if you know anything about VS, you know that the maknaes that SeungGi likes get his full support, on and off screen.
I finally managed to see ep. 5 and I have to say, Joshi & Hoshi are the cutest munchkins! How can they look so innocent when they're actually grown-ass men? Anyway, whether their shenanigans were scripted or genuine, they do have fast hands and great teamwork. They're becoming the stars of this star-studded show. And I say this as a big Lee Seung Gi fan!
