I really like how this is sort of an all women produced drama and with young and rising ladies all over the production team. Dir Luo Luo has worked besides gjm before but this is her first time being the lead director; Zhi Zhu is a newbie and she directed 2 short but very well received dramas Dong Lan Xue and An ancient love song (scored 8+ on douban), which where also directed better than most high peofile and expensive idol dramas from "veteran" male directors on tencent or youku. About the scriptwriters, I'm 90% certain they're women as well judging from their previous works (NLB had very interesting and clever feminist massages and themes that only women could think of and deliver imo lol). Same thing goes for the costume designer and producer so I'm very excited :)) It's pretty much proved to me that women have a better approach to historical and fantasy romance (e.g. Lost you forever and Dream of splendour) and I think it's bc they understand it better so I hope I'm putting my trust in the right ppl this time 😭

Normal human logic would say well, the protagonist in the novel this is being adapted from is litterally the woman and the story is basically told from her prospective so, shouldn't SHE be listed 1st and get the spotlight??? But we all know none of the investors give a damn about this so logic no 2 would say bc of the hierarchy in East Asian cultures, the SENIOR actor should be 1st right??? But apparently not. Here we go with the "billing isn't important as long as the script is good" bs again...I care about billing cause I've watched enough cdramas and have followed enough ent industry drama to know how the politics work and how the seemingly unimportant billing in question totally changes the direction of the story in favour of one actor and that ends up messing the direction of the story up all the time...and no; I don't 100% believe she always chooses good dramas and it's totally normal for fans of an actress to be critical of her decisions bc we clearly want our fave to have a good career and use her potential to the max. I want her pr team and herself to be more careful in the choices they make.
