tbh fandoms just complain about yi xiaoya cause the dramas weren't good and they always want to yell at whoever…
So the costumes in dramas like lbfad, lyst, or upcoming dramas like Legedn of rosy clouds, fssm love in pavilion and moonlight mystique look cheap and low quality??? As in the definition of low "quality" in design terms which mean bad tailoring and bad fabric choices?? The problem should be my eyesight I think... but I don't think there's a point in arguing anymore since our opinions and taste is very different. At the end of the day I just hope pxr ends up looking gorgeous just like you :)

costumes from an 80s cdrama, as an example of why Chinese ppl themselves consider the minimalistic trend a downgrade https://www.newhanfu.com/17586.html

and btw fang sizhe gets backlash way more often than yxy...Moonlit reunion is the first drama of his costuming work I've seen that ppl actually like while they were cooking him to hell and back the moment fansites dropped leaks of MLC, TGCF, SOKP and even LAR 😭

well I'm a fashion girlie myself so here are my 2 cents on why I disagree: 1: Nope. Simple doesn't equal bad and minimalism is not a bad thing on itself. But you need to take Culture in consideration as well. Whay I said abt costumes in cdramas downgrading since mid 2010s isn't MY opinion only, it's litterally what cntez and chinese critics themselves have been talking about everyday. They ALWAYS compare xianxia snd historical styling and costumes to theirs 90s and 2000s dramas and dislike the minimalist trend and I think it's reasonable why??? Because minimalist aesthetics have just NEVER been a thing in historical context of china. You would grasp that especially if you compare Chinese historical costumes throughout the dynasties to their neighboring east Asian countries. Same thing goes for Chinese FANTASY and mythology. The visualisation of gods and goddesses and mythological creatures have pretty much always been extremely glamorous and extravagant so it just doesn't feel right when everything is simple siluettes and pastel colors with no texture and no dimension or even experimentation on all the extremely complex sweing and costume crafting techniques used in chinese historical fashion.
Xiao Ran came in to finalise her makeup today. I can’t see too much but the glimpse of it looks okay and looks…
tbh fandoms just complain about yi xiaoya cause the dramas weren't good and they always want to yell at whoever working bts that's not their celebrity fave😭 like yeah her costumes look too similar in all shows and all , okay valid criticism; but even HER "repetitive" still looks miles bette r and more thought through that those ugly unflattering minimalistic costumes (boring colors, no texture, bad fabric choice) that had plagued cdramas since mid 2010s.
Also saw a comment saying this isn't comparable to lltg and that drama is much superior bc the ml stood up for…
I didn't mind the emperor in lltg but for me he couldn't really get me to forget the bitter taste the overall portrayal of women this show left in my mouth. The problem is more in the hypocrisy and irony than the char writing itself. There are many idol dramas out there that don't have the greatest side char writing that I still enjoy bc the main leads' story is entertaining enough. But when you as a writer are constantly preaching feminism in your show and think you're creating such a women-empowerment masterpiece, yet every single fem char that's not the fmc is portrayed as the oldest and most sexist streotypes associated with women (dumb, materialistic, always jealous and bitter of other women, always obsessed with men in an unhinged way) I get PISSED OFF and can't simply just ignore and enjoy the nice things lol
I agree her character is supposed to be strong and firm female archer. It's not necessary to have a love interest…
It's not even about how "strong" the character is tbh...It's as simple as the fact that human beings naturally have very complicated emotions of their own that are related to themselves and the platonic relationship they have with ppl around them (including family and friends) and also interests that have 0 things to do with love that shape a thing called "personality" and that can be 10 times more interesting than any kind of typical FM ship if written right lol
I'm sorry but I kind of hate the crazy itch some drama consumers have for a heterosexual ship to ALWAYS happen no matter what...yk women and men can have a platonic relationship right?? yk a woman not being in a romantic relationship with a dude doesn't mean she's heartless RIGHT???? Cheng xiao is likely not gonna have a love interest in fof and that is totally okay bc not every fem char needs a man attached to her for her story to be compelling and relevant! Hope that helped.
It's actually interesting to me that so many people seem to dislike this show or even drop it bc they don't like…
Also saw a comment saying this isn't comparable to lltg and that drama is much superior bc the ml stood up for the fl in that show and dare I say i STRONGLY disagree lol. LLTG did definitely have a more charismatic ml but that was just it for me. While dramas like NLB and BIA actually cherish all the female characters and try to bring the humanity behind their surface level flaws out, lltg completely sacrifices the side characters for the sake of the main leads' relationship and only their story. Basically 80% of the women in that show were portrayed as childish, spoiled, stupid, jealous and materialistic creatures who cared about nothing other than men and had no depth and personality other than being plot devices to make the fl's life hard and also make her look better than them. I prefer to watch a romantic family drama with a mid ml but lots of other interesting chars than a show with interesting MCs and a significant number of extremely shallow side characters lmao
It's actually interesting to me that so many people seem to dislike this show or even drop it bc they don't like the romance while the love line in the last thing I personally care about in this show 😭 and I think that's actually not even the main theme here but everybody's so used to "❤️ first everything else 2nd" in romance dramas that they seem to not care when the romance doesn't catch their eye. This drama is about Hua Zhi's journey through a very hard time in her life and there are so many complex and interesting relationship between the female characters in the family that I just don't even care about the fact that the ml is a mediocre char played by a not-so-capable actor. I think it's better to expand your horizon and think beyond some cliche heterosexual relationship when watching these kind of female centric family dramas but at the end of the day it's you and your entertainment so whatever lol
They can post anniversary pics but couldn't lift a finger in defence of their fl when she was being harassed bc of them for weeks😀 if this show has no haters it mean I'm d3ad lol
but I don't think there's a point in arguing anymore since our opinions and taste is very different. At the end of the day I just hope pxr ends up looking gorgeous just like you :)
