Thanks for spotting the mistake in the name. My brain was not in sync with my fingers when typing. Hahaha. Yes agree great character development even for the villains. The bad characters mostly redeemed themselves. Except for Wuhuan and Jingzhao but they deserve their endings.
I tried to watch this drama during its airing time last year since I like xianxia genre. But dropped it after the first episode mainly due to the fact that I could not stand Shanggu's character. Almost a year later, while reading a comment section of A Dream of Splendor ADoS), one of the users gave a list of her favorite male characters that have undying love and Qing Mu from Ancient Love Poetry topped her list. I know all other characters (Yehua of TMoPB, Yu Sifeng of L&R, Gu Qianfan of ADoS) in the list because I have watched or been watching those dramas except Qing Mu of ALP. It got me curious because I like all the male characters she mentioned. Hence, I decided to find out about this Qing Mu and gave this drama a second chance. Long story short, I binge-watched all 49 episodes in 4 days! I was that drawn to the story! There was no one dull moment in the drama. It had a nice pace and a very well executed flow of the story. I liked that they spent 16 episodes to give us some background, build up the details and problems. These details in the first arc made the story in the second and the third arc more relatable and easier to follow with not so many flashbacks. The story of Shanggu and Bai Jue, Qing Mu and Houchi are heartbreaking. I was an emotional mess as I smiled at one moment and cried the next. Even though the happy moment in the ending was very brief, overall I was quite satisfied with the ending as every character be it supporting or main character, good or bad, was addressed nicely and each got their well deserved ending. I can say this drama has one of the best executed endings and conclusions in recent years especially in this genre.
I am glad that I picked this drama again. It was of the best and I'd recommend to give it a try.
