In that same scene, LBY was taken aback with CSS answer and was trying to search for an honest answer through CSS's eyes. That subtle change in emotion is so good! You are right he can convey his emotions and thoughts through his eyes, manner and the tones of his speech. WL is such a talented actor. My heart broke seeing CSS cry her heart out. She always considers herself a strong and independent woman but at that moment she conveyed her vulnerability which it shows she trusts LBY that's why she didn't hold back to reveal that side of her. ZLS keeps surprising me. She keeps getting better and better with her acting. CSS character gives her a lot of opportunities to challenge herself and explore her talent as an actor.
I rewatched episode 36. During the cry scene, when CSS said she cried because she missed home. I could see from LBY's eyes expression he seemed to know CSS was not being honest with him and was a bit disappointed. That's why during the bed scene, he asked her again. I read in the comment section that the novel ends with them engaged and the marriage between LBY and CSS happens in the epilogue. Now I have a wishful thinking that wedding scene from YS imagination may be from the actual wedding scene the director shot.
I have watched until episode 24 and I must say that I like the mortal arch better than the heaven arch. The mortal arch is hilarious as hell. YD really lives a free and unrestrained life there. She is intelligent and witty. I can see Taoist Tang is liking her day by day. A question tho, the reason why YY went to the mortal realm is to investigate the mystery behind the war between the demons and the gods but how is he supposed to investigate with no previous memories at all?
I am on episode 18. Can you guys shed light on me what made Yan Dan so deeply in love with Ying Yuan to the point she can't even cross that damn river even after almost 900 years of trying just simply because she can't forget about him? I can't recall what Ying Yuan has done to her to make him worth all her sacrifices and sufferings. She's just too stubborn.
Why do you guys think SS's parents were not invited to the empress's birthday banquet? Isn't SS's father a court official now? Was it because SS's father rank not high enough? But at least they can be considered as the emperor's and empress's in-laws as well right? Even YS was invited and I don't think his rank is that high either. He mentioned he's some kind of assistant at the Ministry of Justice.
