Well, Gu Yuanchuan is definitely a black flag in my opinion. He started out as a red flag, but episode 65 fully turned him into a black flag. Gu Yuanchuan is a certified a$$hole. I have to hand it to Ma Xiaoyu for playing him so well. There were times when Gu Yuanchuan was yelling in Ruan Jiaojiao's face that it was truly scary. I would have been in tears, shaking like a leaf. This drama was not dubbed, and hearing the power and volume in Ma Xiaoyu's voice when he yells in anger, yeah, that's scary. His facial expressions and his voice in those moments were truly spectacular and terrifying 😵🫥
While I will never be able to like Gu Yuanchuan, nor excuse any of his actions, Ma Xiaoyu truly played him well.

Yes, they are usually pretty decent. Some context can be lost, especially when it is idioms being translated, but overall they are decent.

I have yet to see any vertical drama that accurately portrays the mental health disorder that the character supposedly has. It's like the writers do zero research on psychology and mental health disorders, but only throw out a diagnoses simply because they have heard of it and know the name of it...but clearly know nothing of it's symptomology.

I thought that might have been the case. I see it happen with a lot of the big budget dramas. I have never really understood why people do that. I am here for the story telling. The actors/actresses work hard to bring that story to life, to give meaning, feeling, and emotion to each character that they play, to bring alive the world that these characters live in. That is already plenty worthy of praise to me.

How is the rating not higher than 8.4 for this drama? I am loving every single minute of this series. I haven't skipped through not a single second of any of the episodes. That never happens. I need more episodes faster 🤩

Yes! It drives me nuts that the same drama has a different English name for almsot every single platform that it is on. Why can't they just have one official English title like all the Full-length dramas do 🙄🤨

That synopsis....is the most vague, lack luster, and uninteresting synopsis that I think I have ever read...hopefully it gets updated. Ignore the MDL synopsis and read the one from iQiyi (Man from the Ruins), the Reelshort app (Love Amidst Ruins), or the Flickreels app (He Walked Out of Ruins) instead.

Aaah 🙄, if I only I would have come here first instead of spending the last two hours watching ads on the Reelshort app so I could unlock episodes for free. I unlocked upto episode 32...and now I find out that it was on iQiyi all along, of which I have an iQiyi Premium subscription 🙄😬😮‍💨🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I really, really loved this vertical, and I don't say that very often. Episode 44 was so sweet and comforting, especially with the song from the Kdrama It's Okay to Not Be Okay playing through the whole episode. It truly was the perfect song for that moment. Episodes 57 through 59 made me cry for the heartache that Jiang Ci You was feeling. I loved how Bo Jin Xiu was quick to support, comfort, and defend the woman he loved.
Don't be afraid to watch this vertical. Green flag male lead all the way.
