Omg, this was considered to be a controversy? Youtube fansubbing happens all the time, even for famous youtubers.…
some trashy reporters made it a big deal out of it for their own gain, maybe more views. Most people who blamed her thought she was not paying translators and that's it, they excluded that it was yt fansub and no one here knows abt viki or translation system there.

i mean pay production company for shows, not translators. they can buy the show off and sub it themselves. Even us Koreans have to pay for korean shows, we can't watch it on viki or rakuten. Most of shows are banned here so we have our own fish to fry let alone "protest" for your subtitles.

it was never a big thing in korea , most ppl didn't even know about it before she made an apology. I'm pretty sure rest of my family still don't know what even happened. Viki is really not known at all here and no one knows how translations system there works, and when some knetz saw her recruiting they had conversations like "is it a job offer? shouldn't she pay them?" online. it was not big at all but since TR is such a superstar some trashy reporters jumped on it and made it a big deal out of it. and then because of those articles some were quick to judge and blame her, and she made apology asap. it was never that big of a thing.

Holy shit this is as tone deaf as it gets. Seriously???? Are we kidding here, or being real??? You wonder why…
also do you know why viki or rakuten is barely known here? Because most of the shows on those websites are BANNED in korea. Koreans have to pay for the shows unlike yourselves. We have to watch it via national ott or netflx, disney plus etc.

lol your logic is pure whining and entitlement itself. Do koreans control subtitles? No, we even learned chinese, and japanese too, to read or understand what other people are saying. Did we whine about it and blamed it on them? no. most of y'all only speak english and still whine about it when it is most spoken language in the whole wide world. Translation deficiency is not due to us, it's capitalism pure and simple. most of netflix shows or amazon prime kshows have subs. you can buy off korean shows with enough money and sub it yourself, but they don't. Simple as that. Also, why would all Koreans take blame for all that f up situations? only very few made a deal out of it, most of us didnt know about it. Do you apologize for every little thing for what some people from your country did wrong yourself? some reporters who made it a big deal should apologize, not entire country.

Also it is all due to the demand and money. Plenty of kshows get translations on netflix or amazon prime, but rakuten and viki barely pay them enough hence low translation rate. So why make it about koreans like we are in the wrong here? You should ask Rakuten or Viki to pay them enough and buy the show, make subs themselves.

lol why should koreans protest for that? Again no one here knows what viki or rakuten is, very few people who watch cdrama do.. (Cdrama itself has very small fanbase here) And also not like they suggested they ban translation or sth, they just suggested not knowing she should pay for the translation and that's it.

Thanks for expounding the situation! Still, she indeed got it worse than it is because of the timing.Where I live…
I'm pretty sure she issued that apology to make it die down quickly, it wasn't that big of a deal, no one except me in my family even knows about this.. and also very very few ppl use viki/yt sub or know system there, so they don't even know the exact situation.

also never once protested agains them? lol, learn your history before you lecture someone Karen, Koreans are fighters. We fought and detested chinese, japanese for long ass years, and we earned democracy with our blood. We had many democratization movement and independence movement, we earned our democracy with our blood you ignorant f with short ass histroy.

lol maybe you should learn to speak korean since you say all koreans like we are some useless entitled brats while you are the one whining about subtitles here. See the irony?

Also, this was not really a big deal in Korea, it blew up due to the few articles trashy reporters wrote w/o understanding the situation (again no one here knows or cares abt viki let alone translation system) and since taeri was superstar it blew up quick, and she issued a quick apology. It never was big as you say it is, most ppl didn't know after it was already dissolved. Even me who was in the circle barely knew about it, don't say like every young korean blamed her. Only few did not knowing the exact circumstances.
lo_ve May 24, 2023
Also, let me explain that VIKI and global fan donating translation term is really not known here, only FEW koreans know viki let alone translations system. Some knetz saw her recruiting ppl for translation and had conversations like "Is it a job recruit? is she paying them? If not, shouldn't she? even though they are her fans she should" kinda conversations online, and some reckless trashy reporters made it big writing articles about it. OFC no one really knew about the exact situation since viki is nowhere near famous in Korea. only very few people who watch cdrama like myself know, and even less people know about viki translation system like myself. I mean why would koreans watch drama in english subtitles in other websites when they have their tv and tons of national ott? Anyways back to the point, some articles were written excluding all the details, and some were quick to judge and blame (but most ppl didnt even know anything was happening) and Taeri make quick af apology to make it die down. In fact, most Koreans didn't even know what was happening or knew afterwards.

Also, pls don't think you know so much about Korea or what koreans go through because you watched some Kdramas and read korean news like wtf. Every country has issues, I'm pretty sure your country isn't really picture perfect since you're pointing fingers. I admit Koreans can be harsh, nit picking, and have high standard of everything and that's a bish sometimes but that also helps in some ways. At least we see straight through where we stand, where we are in the wrong most of the time. Also kpop and kdrama y'all love so much are well and quickly made because of those aspects. Korea is a such a small country in matter of land and population. How do you think we produce such high quality drama, pops, otts in such short time with such small resources?

Also, viki is not really big here at all, I'm pretty sure only very few koreans who watch Cdramas myself (and trust me, there are very very few of us) know what viki is.. Most Koreans don't know, don't care and ofc don't know how the system works. Some knetz thought "shouldn't they get paid for what they do?" and that got bigger because Taeri is such famous actress, one of the biggest in their 30s. It blew up bigger than it actually is and I'm pretty sure most of ppl didn't even know the situation before it was over. And also wouldn't it be worse if koreans actually thought oh u can pay nothing to international fans, as long as they are not koreans.. etc? (again, they DON'T know about viki or it's system at all) it just blew up bigger than it actually is, I'm pretty sure most of Korean ppl knew what it was after she issued apology of sort. Not like most ppl knew about it and blamed her for long, this happened and dissolved quick af.

well I'm not saying she should take responsibility for any political wrong here, you are being sooo dramatic. lol I'm simply explaining the context behind it? You people are making it bigger than it actually is. And picking this president+government was mostly mysoginistic incel dudes and old folks so blaming all Koreans including me for it is just like saying y'all deserve everything since you voted for trump.

koreans were focusing on "not paying" part, not the international fans part. If they thought not paying was okay for international fans only, that would be worse, no?
Also, I'm pretty sure most of Korean didn't even know it was global fans and even know about viki/yt system. Some of knetz talked like "shouldn't she pay them for their work" and that was it. That got blew up, got bigger than it actually is.

have u finished the series? Fl is ml's bae so he obviously liked her even before he met her and fl kinda fell for him before they met again in ep 4. in episode 4 they met again long time later when they already liked each other but couldn't finalize it due to ml's sudden surgery.

watched this back-to-back with the first season. Maybe it’s because I didn’t watch s1 when it was airing and…
