I finally caught up with all available episodes. I loved donghua a lot, and read the novel, so it was one of the most ancipitated dramas this year.
I love that it follows donghua so closely even in terms of charachter design.
Wang Churan looks like she came straight out of the donghua.

Acting is good, I especially like Yong Er, I feel like great acting gave her a lot of depth.

I do think though that drama softens ML and I liked more how his story was told in donghua during one continuous episode. I understand why drama did it differently, so it doesn't stop main plot in the middle. But still feels it would be impactfull if done in one go. You can really feel the build up of his misery and desperation for FML.

Overall, I think, the drama is great, I was binging episodes, even though I know majority of the plot.

I bet we won't get much from real world. I really liked how novel explained about ML getting back much earlier and waited FL to transmigrate and back. But you know, Cdramas always gives just one sec meeting in real world.

YES, THE TALK! That's what I wanted at the end. I mean, even if they dont properly show their reconciliation, they should have better conversation, longer for sure. At least, smth like in TTEOTM. Despite some problems with character building there, that last conversation between TTJ and LSS really closed everything well. They had heartfelt conversations honestly talking about their feelings and deciding on the best course of action.

Here, HRY never really opened up to BJS even at the end. And whatever people say, BJS telling her he understands isn't enough! Till the end it felt he did understand her, but never felt like she did.

And you know, they opted for cliché xianxia ending but they didn't even go all in with that. Where the classic part of FML heartbreak and being depressed about ML dying? Could give us smth similar to TMOPB, where you can see that FML regrets some of her actions. Here, you just see her handling everything and mostly nostalgic.

HRY was shown understanding that she made mistakes, but it never felt she really regretted any of them. That's why she lacks that character growth as BJS.

Veil of Shadows BTS looks so good. He seems to have good chemistry with Chen Duling. And even BTS of their kisses better than Feud 😭😭😭
I dont like JJY but will check that drama for Joseph. I am his fan after Feud.

The drama just feels very unbalanced with it's storytelling. If you don't have enough episodes, you could just take out some of plots from first half, making it more even.

For me it just seems, they had in mind what kind of conflict they want to build, but didn't know how to properly resolve it.

I agree, time travel was unnecessary. And I dont see her telling alternative HRY what would happen is giving her choices, she actually just once again meddled in natural time order. She took away experiences of HRY and BJS that made them grow and understand each other.

I hate time travel fixing mistakes ending but kind of feel I would liked more if they actually returned to past with their memories.

Or other better option for me would be HRY travelling through the past as an observer, understanding cause and effect of each one of her action. I still think, we didnt get her proper growth act.
I also didn't like that they never addressed that HRY was the one responsible for BJS death. She did so many mistakes (as did he) but never really reflected on them.

I liked him being childish and even think it was a good plot to make HRY calm down. But I think it should have been much earlier in the show, not towards the end. It is really robbed us from real BJS trying to mend his relationship with HRY.

Looking at the drama as a whole now, I really think, they should have had half of drama - feud, then half - properly building up their reconciliation. Uncovering the truth should have been at mid point of the show.

I agree with you. There are many plot holes in the drama.
Before we thought that it is build up to smth, so overanalyzed everything. But seems it's just bad writing.

I was sure there would be abother villain, who was trying separate the couple during tribulation. Because I remember XJS said that he spent 10 years in punishment with BJS and I started acting after their release. So, should be scholar with book.

However, the other guy who was trying to kill Shi An during tribulation, was there while both BJS and XJS should have been still in punishment. Timings doesnt make any sense🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

My understanding is that she just created alternative timeline. So there are other versions of them that could avoid all the tragedies.
Original HRY returned to her own timeline where BJS died.

Even after watching 32 and hating the ending, I thought, okay maybe at least we get cute scenes of BJS and HRY (smth like Immortal Sansara). I almost threw my phone on the wall, when I saw it is BTS😤😤😤

I understood than XJS was strong cause he devoured people's emotions and lifes at the end. HRY said he wouldn't be reincarnated if he used that dark technique. Also, i think BJS said in previous episodes that he got something from primordial got too, a breath , maybe, I forgot.

I think, they cut drama like from 40 to 32 episodes, that's why most secondary characters stories doesnt make any sense.

I remember I casually watched xianxia Beauty of Resilience few years ago. And it had very dumb ending (involving time travel too). I was annoyed with it, but forgot almost right away. Here I feel I wouldnt be able to let go of my dissapointment for a while. Hopefully, not 400 years🤣🤣🤣

I hate the ending but I think they actually build pretty good villain, i enjoyed his story a lot.

I think, the main characters build up was good enough, but their didn't conclude their arks well enough.
Goddess of time was cool too, except for her being the one reviving BJS at the end, was so random 😑 Should have been primordial god or at least emissiary.

On other secondary characters I agree, Jang Suan is totally wasted except for his story with Ling Er. Council - i dont even know why they showed them. I wonder if some problems with secondary characters come from the cuts. Maybe, they were supposed to have more scenes, Idk.

Generally, I totally agree that they concentrated on twists and build ups but didnt work on resolutions.

1. No, just one sided love from SML, but it doesnt create issues for the leads.
2. Never 🫠 They are really together in flashback episodes only.
3. Whole drama is their break up😅
4. Last minute HE as most xianxia.
