The adapted novel "The Mystery of Zhang Guo" by Da Feng Gua Guo can be read here (https://www.wuxiaworld.eu/chapter/the-mystery-of-zhang-gong-2) and having read a few chapters, I believe the screenplay for the drama is a vast improvement on the original plot in the novel. The novel read like it was written by an amateur while the screenplay has a more logical plot line and characters.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking he and Cheng Yi look so much alike, especially in their lips and eyes.
