Look, you're free to continue sounding unhinged, I've got no skin in the game either way. If you feel so offended by Netflix's program choices perhaps boycotting them might be the way to go. Or you could keep throwing a tantrum. You do you babe
2. "Wednesday once again dominated Nielsen’s U.S. ranking of streaming originals, while the docuseries Harry & Meghan made its chart debut at No. 3.
For the week of Dec. 5, Netflix’s Wednesday amassed another 3.3 billion minutes viewed across eight episodes, followed by Netflix’s Firefly Lane with nearly 1.4 billion minutes viewed across 19 total episodes.
With an audience that is described as similar to The Crown‘s, “though slightly younger and more female driven,” Netflix’s Harry & Meghan landed at No. 3 with nearly 1.3 billion minutes viewed for its three episodes. It was followed by Netflix’s Dead to Me (600 million minutes/30 episodes) and The Crown (550 million/50 episodes)"
She's in a select group of C actresses who're able to make you believe they're the characters being played. She never uses the same expression to convey similar situations or thoughts. She reminds me of Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh who I think is spectacular
She acts the same in most dramas as in her expressions and mannerisms in certain situations are predictable which, to me, detracts from being fully immersed in the lives of the characters. I'm always aware of the actress instead of the character. Another actress that does this is Betty Sun and although both have accumulated many awards and accolades, they piss me off each time I see them act as such. Also, why does she look like she's 50?
I think I've figured out why this debacle is taking place... let's say Netflix offers a free 7-day trial... a…
@atom951 Business models evolve and data-driven platforms like Netflix clearly know which method grows their bottomline. Do you think you know more than them? What worked at the inception of Netflix clearly doesn't work anymore, moreover, they're trying to increase revenue as evinced by the cancellation of multi-household account usage. They are a business who answer to shareholders. Stop whining.
This woman has penned some of the most iconic dramas as well as the most charming, sexy, and gorgeously dressed male leads. From Kong Yoo in Goblin to Lee Min Ho in Eternal Monarch, then LMH again in The Heirs, to my recent favorite Jung Sung Il who wore sexy as a second skin. Look, I like me a well-dressed man, and Eun Sook's dramas always deliver
I felt like doing jumping jacks and flips while reading your review because it encapsulates everything that was wrong about this drama. I mean witaf was the point of all that angst? Thanks for making me lol!
Your review left me in hysterics cos I too was cringe-laughing at the absurdity that was the female lead. The first strike against this series is that it's just badly done Xianxia followed by the fact that the acting was awful. Sigh. Anyway, your review made me feel less like a hater. Solidarity
Charmaine was spectacular in Yanxi Palace. She moved in a subtle but specific manner throughout her character’s arc. From being the fearful Consort to the indomitable Empress who took down her real and perceived foes one after the other. Then there’s that epic monologue in the last episode that must have left even the other cast members and crew dumbfounded. She and the ML who played the Emperor were mesmerizing to watch. Where and how can I watch another series like Yanxi cos I’m having severe withdrawal symptoms!!
As a viewer, I don't like watching evil thrive while justice is denied. It's bad for my nerves so I may have to drop this series and, like you, rewatch Yanxi Palace
