I'm glad Lee is so chill and really loves his brother because the way their parents dote on Fah could cause serious resentment/rebellion in the younger sibling.

I've skipped this series for so long because of the low rating, but I'm going to watch it just because I love OhmFluke - how bad can it be??

Obviously the actor isn't a robot, but there's something about human/robot stories that simply gives me the ick, and how quickly robo-boy went robo-sextoy did nothing to change my mind. In real life when this tech goes mainstream, it'll be creepy old men making r@pe-doll lolicon robots & parading them around in public with Predator Rights Activists crying 'it's not a real person, why are you bothered?' and I'm going to Alt-F4 in disgust.

Lets be honest, you deserve a bit of mocking for not even thinking to look things up yourself or understanding…
Your argument seems based on the premise that sign language started somewhere and spread outward from there to everywhere else. It didn't. Like any other language, sign language develops independently, and it's only in modern times of shared communication that new words/signs are shared.

Sign language is not one language, every single one is the signed equivalent of the local language.

Latin is Latin wherever it is used, even in Japan.

Likewise, ZGS (Chinese Sign Language) is ZGS wherever it is used, even in Japan.

Just listening to this OST on Youtube and I'm reminded how gentle and lovely this series was, with 'Slow Motion' a high contender for a perfect wedding song.

they’ve been slowly releasing shows that they promised before this one so there is still hope I won’t be giving…
So you're saying if this came out tomorrow, you wouldn't watch it? I'd be excited and interested to see baby Barcode in this if it came out ten years from now.

This show was excellent, I'm so glad the writers had less contempt for the audience than people like you who think the glorification/romantification of violence/abuse/rape will somehow 'teach' people the wrong lesson. Problematic fiction is FICTION & this was mild af; pre-teen girls are writing way more hair-raising fanfiction on AO3 as we speak.

Saying it would 'only make sense' for there to be a single sign language on Earth is the most tone-deaf thing I've read on MDL today - and this is MDL we're talking about.

Sign language, just like spoken language, evolves according to the region, needs, and temperament of the people using it. In colder climates, languages tend to have more consonants when spoken, to avoid as much heat-loss through an open mouth as possible. Likewise, signs tend to be faster in cold regions than in warmer ones.

The sign for 'Australia' in American SL is kind of rude, and it's much cuter in Australian SL, which is an example of why it's slowly becoming best-practice to use a country's own name for itself. Language is rarely about being convenient for others, or American English wouldn't have silent Ks at the start of words, would it? These languages originate hundreds of years before it was at all common to communicate with people outside of your own community.

To say 'Your minority is so small, you should give up your individuality for my convenience' is borderline colonizer-talk, and while I admit that's a bit hyperbolic, I hope you'll think twice before saying it doesn't make sense to 'bother' meeting differently-abled people where they are & holding space for their language the same way we do for people who speak uncommon verbal languages.
