The scene where he found out Bai Hehuai was dead...the tears he shed in silence. It was a perfect execution of who Su Muyu is as a person. Loyal, and sentimental, yet down to business and stoic. A truly powerful performance 👏 👏 👏

If i ever doubted Gong Jun as Su Muyu, the last episode took all my doubts away. Wow. Those final scenes proved what depth and understanding of the charactter he had. See below for spoiler.

I also like how Bai He Huai's disciple Xiao Zhaoyan took control and cured her master when BHH was mortally wounded. All the female characters were outstanding in their own right!

Chang Hua Sen always choosing these morally ambiguous/villain characters and I literally can never hate him. From A journey to love to Are you the one to Moonlight Mystique and now Blood river... must be his vulnerable lovable rogue vibes 😂

Somehow i find the implied romance of Bai Hehuai and Su MuYu quite redundant to the plot. Did they just write her in so that it wouldnt be mistaken for BL so it would pass censhorship? I just don't find myself shipping them when im more interested in the action/fighting scene to come. Its reminding me of the FL in TBOY. At least BHH is not jealous of the other women in SMY's life, which makes her tolerable.

I love how FDB got ditched so many times by LLH 😂😂 and how he was almost competing with DFS for LLS's attention 😂

Tbh im still hung up on bromance between Li Lianhua, Di Feisheng and Fang Duobing. No other show has made me have those feels since, maybe Su Muyu and Su Changhe will be next!!!!

Lol... my mind definitely went there, but i love these wuxia and not romance. Honestly i think these male lead/brotherhood shows can propel actors into next level stardom if done right, like Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I'm not interested in romance or BL so i much prefer brotherhood/sisterhood centric shows.

Guys im loving the show so much now..ep 13 was a ripper!!! I really like how the writers fleshed out SMY and SCH. Their spending time with the old lady for chinese new year's made me sad for SCH, who never had a childhood or family. His only anchor is SMY. I really hope they don't turn into enemies. I've only known Dark River from TBOY and Dashing Youth to be this assassin's organisation, never knew the struggles, pain and hope they held. SCY looks like a impulsive and megalomanic but he is a lot more strategic, cunning and good at deploying resources than he looks. I'm soooo looking forward to seeing how the characters evolve.

I want to watch this for Cheng Yi but can't be bothered to watch the first 2 instalments. Is there anywhere on YouTube where they do a recap of the first 2 instalments ?

I'm on ep11 now and there is a noticeable shift in his demeanour, more relaxed and he is smiling more, though you can see he is still restrained and somewhat wary. The character is now undergoing some shifts, looking forward to it!

Not sure how to interpret Gong Jun's acting here. Understandably Su Muyu is a serious character who is upright, even Changfeng teases him for being too serious all the time. I'm hoping for some character growth for SMY to see a wider range of emotions from Gong Jun. So far he has been poker faced throughout and it's hard for me to understand how the character thinks/feels. Maybe that's the way they want us to interpret the character??? Although i must say, his voice acting is really levelling up. The control of intonation, depth and projection is really good.

There is no way Kim Hye Soo is 55!!!!! Usually actors play younger characters and its like nah... but i legit thought she was in her early 40s. Wow.

To me its not a sad ending bc i knew Lin Yan would come back to the present. She was following him when she went to the past, so i knew they would somehow be connectef in modern day. The lonely part where he died alone was sad but he endured that dream and came back to modern times where they reuinte. It was a good slice of life time travel light hearted easy watch for me 🥰

Why is the rating so low??? It's so good and funny, and im loving the food!!! I love that even in times of strife the family still finds time to squabble 😂

Xia Jingyan the despot emperor meeting his rightful end,his only redemption being that he showed some sliver of humanity toward the only person he cared about. Even Xiyang was moved and said it was a pity she was unable to keep their child. Everyone got what they deserved in the end. Xia Jingshi's obsession with Yixiao didn’t make sense that he would stick around just to win her back. I guess he didnt want the throne as much as he wanted to kill the Empress mother and his half brother.
