Without TSJ, XY would’ve died. Without XL, XY wouldn’t have lived. They both did their best given their abilities. Let’s not take away credit from either of them because at the end of the day, she was saved by the two of them. They both loved her deeply

He tried to give her all his spiritual energy but it wasn’t enough and thinking she actually died, he wanted to stay by her side till the very end. He doesn’t want her to feel abandoned or alone again since he knows that is her biggest fear. He is willing to die and give up everything for her.
XL doesn’t love XY any less than TSJ for not wanting to die. He is connected to XY via the bugs so unlike the others, he could feel she still has a bit of life in her and he knew only he has the power to wake her up. He too also went through a lot of pain trying to keep her alive. He was willing to sacrifice his life and also give up everything for her.
I’m team TSJ all the way, but I also really appreciate XL. They’re both great in their own way.

Yup. TSJ is perfect for XY. He melts her cold heart while she heals his broken heart. He’s the soft hearted, gentle, and kind soul she needs. Bonus : smartest character, good at literally everything ( chess, poetry, drawing, music, business etc)

Your points are valid. But I would argue when it comes to red flags they honestly all have it, even XY herself. Now it’s a matter of who has the most red flags and who’s red flags you’re willing to ignore.
I personally find TSJ red flags that you mentioned also what makes him so great. As XY said herself “I hate your indecisiveness and the fact that you’re too softhearted but that is also what I really like about you”. He’s often too considerate of others which leads to his indecisiveness and he also very trusting of others.
For me personally, I find red flags in XL and CX hard to ignore. But again, it is a matter of preference and what you see as red versus green flags. Let’s just talk about a few since it can get long
XL - I find him abusive and calculating. Always using her as a bargain chip. Not honest with his feelings. Also invading her personal space without her permission. I understand he loves her and his upbringing is a big factor but the whipping, biting, drowning, and major anger management issues are a hard pass for me. Not to mention his personality as FFB highly contrast that of XL, so perhaps he suffers from multi personality disorder. If he was a person in real I’d recommend therapy.
CX - super possessive and also has his fair share of anger management issues. He seems to see things in black and white with a low bar of empathy. He also stalks her and is the overly jealous type. He also brings up the fact that they’re blood related a lot to perhaps to guilt trip her into always taking his side. I’d recommend counseling.
With that said, I do appreciate what each characters bring to the table despite their flaws. XL scenes are exciting and full of passion. He’s perfect if you want an adventure full of ups and downs. CX scenes are nostalgic and plot heavy. Even though he doesn’t get a lot of romantic scenes, the story needs him to progress and move forward. He’s perfect if you want someone who is driven and has aspirations. TSJ scenes are sweet and warm. He is perfect if you want someone who would always put you first and do anything to make you happy.

I was never into the mean/cold bad boy that is only nice to the girl he likes trope. With that said, XL isn’t all that nice to her either. He clearly loves her but his way of expressing love is a turn off for me. I’m sure it is his upbringing, so I think he needs therapy first before he is ready to be in a relationship lol. Also his FFB personality is too much of a contrast from XL so I don’t want to deal with someone with multi personality disorder.
As for CX, the possessive jealous cousin vibe isn’t doing it for me either. Not only would I not be attracted to my cousin, but if he is hiding behind bushes to try to stab the guy I like…yeah…nope. Let’s say there is no blood relations, but just a dear childhood friend, I still would not pick him. He clearly has his priorities and aspirations but you will never feel the most important to him.
FL came into the picture a bit late but the problem with him is that he will never choose love over power. He seems fun to be around but not someone you can take too seriously. Still better than the above 2.
TSJ is literally bf/husband material. He is almost perfect in every way. Good thing his brother handicapped him or else it wouldn’t even be a fair competition. In the novel, the author described him to be the smartest of them all with the most talents and potential. Good thing he isn’t fighting for power. He only wants to be with the person he loves, and therefore I would choose him BUT after he cancel the engagement. Before that…..I’d keep my distance. Even if the marriage was arranged, I would not want to be known as a mistress. XY did say one of his negative trait is the fact that he is too indecisive and too softhearted. But I would still prefer someone who is Good over someone who is good only to me
I have a theory that it was LLH biological brother ( li xiangxuan) that was protective and took care of LLH when they were homeless but LLH was too young to remember and confused him with SGD. it make sense cause why would someone who loved him so much and was protective of him when he was young turned out to be so evil and wants him dead
Did not expect to love this drama as much as I do. I find myself anticipating for each episode! This and Mysterious Lotus Casebook are my current obsession!
Also - Did anyone ever realized that unlike 17 and Xiang Liu, who fell in love with Xiao Liu for her current self (despite how she acts), Cang Xuan never even had an ounce of affection for Xiao Liu? Up until the last moment where he found out her identity, he was never fond of her, even disgusted with her. He only started showing affections toward her after realizing who she was - so it kind of makes me wonder how much of his love for her is just carried over by past feelings.
LLH is like the wuxia version of Xu Kai’s character from She and her perfect husband.
not at all... Xu Kai's character (Yang Hua) in she and her perfect husband isn't as sarcastic, doesn't lie like no tomorrow, and definitely not as expressive in his emotions. Also, Yang Hua character is kind of socially awkward which is the opposite of LLH
