I think ie rewatched this like 3 times at this point. Kept coming back to this, The best xianxia I've seen in a while. Sure there's cliche plotlines here and there but I think it's done very well. All the characters, even the side characters are very enjoyable. There's a lot of character development for not just the ML & FL but also the side characters and villains as well. Really wish there was a second season, however, it ended perfectly so in a way it doesn'y really need one. I just love it too much
I remember commenting a while ago that I wish he was in a Guo ji ming film since he's so gorgeous and totally fit Guo ji ming's aesthetic so needless to say even if it's just a melon, I was happy to see it. Hopefully if it's true, it's a great script! Deng Wei is an amazing actor so I believe he can play any role really well.
I'm surprised the ML didn't get rid of the two nodes on his ear. It's a little bit distracting.
omg yes haha, it was so distracting! I did saw an old live stream clip of his that explained why he didn't remove it. During his birth the nurse asked his family if they wanted it removed and his older brother looked it up online and saw it was a symbol of "luck/good fortune" so the family insisted on keeping it. I know I shouldn't nit pick, but its like baby nipples and everytime there's a close up shot that's all my eyes can focus on xD Oh wells, still gorgeous but I wished he removed it
picked this up on a whim and ended up being one of my fav drama this year. Really a dark horse in my opinion. The pace is right, great character development, the chemistry, and omg the kiss scenes. I rewatched it twice cause it's just that good. please i'm begging for a season two T_T

Yeah, all these unnecessary rumors and speculations could've easily ended had the crew come out to respond but them choosing to remain silent isn't helping. I'm glad his fans are here to defend his rights - although with the way the production team is choosing to handle this and their attitude thus far, I don't know if it'll get anywhere. Deng wei is a great actor so I'll watch this regardless, but just hope they don't kill a potential great script due to capitalist reasons
I need to clear something up because there are a lot of rumors flying around. For anyone who cares - Regarding the recent talks about this drama - Deng Wei fans are not asking for favoritism from the drama production, they're just asking for basic fairness and the respect he deserves.
What does that mean? So far, this production team has done nothing but use Deng Wei’s name for publicity stunts, regardless of whether it results in negative press for him. His name has been tied to this drama for months, repeatedly appearing on the hot search and not for positive reasons (even though he has never confirmed to play this). It’s the kind of attention that provokes fan wars, using Deng Wei as a shield so other actresses’ fans can attack him instead of criticizing the production team themselves.
In the last couple of months, so many different rumors have been constantly going around and Deng Wei got scolded many many times, and not once did the crew step in to clear them up - except when it involved another crew member. The only time they responded to a rumor (and within hours actually) was to help another one of their crew member dispel it. Deng Wei’s name was never even formally announced as part of the cast, yet they used his image in the AI poster. Also if you zoom in to the poster, it's really badly done, The horse has two hooves sticking out in one leg, ML pinky is overly stretched lolol... Do they even care? That alone is questionable - but it gets worse.
Recently, a "new" leaked script has been going around weibo, showing a complete plot change. The ML storyline has been gutted. His highlights were handed over to the FL and the SML. Now, the ML role is reduced to little more than a supporting prop to serve the FL’s growth. While it's normal for scripts to be edited during production, it’s not right when the entire ML’s arc is stripped, while other characters get expanded backgrounds and more plotlines. In this "updated" script, the ML’s character introduction is 1–2 pages shorter than even the SML’s. At that point, can you even call him the ML anymore? Why not make the SML the ML? Also, this "new" script is suspected to be updated around a month ago... after Deng Wei allegedly signed his contract. If true, that’s extremely shady and honestly fraud if you ask me.
If this production is determined to use Deng Wei’s popularity, they should at least have the decency to respect him, not drag his name through the mud while secretly boosting other people behind the scenes. If the leaked script is fake, the crew needs to publicly deny it and stop the rumors. But it’s been days and there’s been silence. That silence only fuels speculation about whether they are truly betraying the original script and their own male lead.
As for the poster thing - it reveals the production team's lack of respect even further. In the original poster (before this one), Deng Wei’s face was intentionally darkened, made smaller, and placed below the FL. The FL had two solo posters, while the supposed first-billing male lead had none. Also the FL's weapon belongs to the ML. In the novel, that weapon belongs to the ML. It's his signature weapon. So the fact that the FL is holding his weapon in the poster further proves the unfair plot change. Also given how sensitive positioning is in this industry, this was clearly intentional. You can't tell me the marketing team had no idea what they were doing. After everything this production team has done, it’s completely understandable for fans to be upset and demand the crew come out with an official statement.
Anyways, That's my rant for today. I just don't like how capitalist is involved when it comes to film production. If you don't have a strong team behind you or you are not someone with a big background, you get bullied and stepped on, but I guess that's just how the industry is and it probably won't ever change. Such a good novel, well written ML, great actor, is it that hard to ask for respect for the original work?
