Episode One: Welcome to your new drama. Here is some brief background info and ACTION ACTION ACTION!!! Wow! π I was not expecting it and had to get comfy quick!
Cheng Yi! πππ He's so funny so far! So glad to have him back in another costume drama! Ready to buckle in with you all! Happy watching!
does this drama have an annoying or evil sfl trying to break the leads up or destroy their relationship
Yes and no! She appears in the second half of the drama, but she isn't taken seriously by either when she tries to get them to break up. I wanna say she's only around for a few episodes and then married off and sent far away after an event. There are no other females for the majority of the drama. And it's not like she succeeds for a little bit and ML is with her. He rejects her pretty clearly from the moment she appears.
This is a great drama! Just finished today. I'm so glad FL never had a uwu baby voice. Strong women all throughout this drama. Bai Jing Ting nailed his character! Gu Jiusi was so funny until things got serious, and even when it was life and death, he still somehow remained positive! Even though there is only one on screen kiss, it was perfect and outside of that, you could feel that they grew to love each other deeply! I'm glad I bumped this one up on my list!
I'm only on episode 14 and I have to say I am enjoying Bai Jing Ting's acting. I watched him in Reset and never pictured him doing a costume drama. There are camera angles where he resembles Cheng Yi with that jawline and whipped stare. Song Yi is just so beautiful to me as well! I love her tigress personality and then she hides behind a fan! π
Anyway, man oh man. Liu Xue Yi is always playing the bad guy! I don't know what he has against the Gu family, but he needs laid... Or therapy. Or both.
Costume period dramas are so much more stressful than Xianxia because you know it's perma death. No healing spells or reincarnations and cultivating back to immortality. My heart has been pounding these last two episodes. I'm glad I paused my other dramas to watch this. I know I'm in for a ride!
Question. Isn't she supposed to be 19 in college? She just had her birthday surprise and both characters said she's turning 19. Is that a translation mistake or was she 16,not 17 in the high school part?
Also, does the obsessed female have any more screen time after episode 16? I'm over her. π

Hmmm.. After 10 eps seems you still donβt like it, please donβt torture yourself
You don't have to be head over heels over a drama to watch it. How will you get a variety of opinions and reviews if everyone is just in an echo chamber?
Was it really that bad for you? I'm not sure if it's because I've seen so many Chinese dramas with FL who have…
It's the uwu acting in combination with the voice. It's the dragging. Skate Into Love had a bit about it when the speed skate team was trying to teach Wei Wei to be more feminine and drag out her words and she found it ridiculous at their age.
Everyone said she matures in episode 8 and I honestly see no difference between her 17 year old self and 19.
10 episodes then you still donβt like it? Wow i am surprised you are still watching for something that you donβt…
I don't tend to drop dramas unless they are really bad. I don't think I can give a fair review without watching it.
I just don't like how the 10 year old actress seemed more mature as a 14 year old than ZLS playing a 17 year old. How does the 14 year old seem more level headed than the 17 and at this point 19 year old?
I'm on episode 10. When does her uwu acting and voice go away? How do her roommates and classmates sound like adults and she's still being infantized? I'm convinced these directors and actors don't study teenagers.
π He's calling her kiddo because she's young then. and they didn't get in any initimate relationship till later…
I just don't see how a man can go from "yeah, this kid" room to "yeah, let's bang"
They should have skipped all of this underage stuff and made them short flashbacks. I have a teen (16) and can't imagine adult males looking at her like a little sister and then suddenly want to be intimate after she's legal. I'm going to keep watching though
I don't know if I'm enjoying this guys. It feels creepy that he's calling her kiddo, but later when she's legal he's going to have feelings for her. Only on episode 6. I'm going to try to get to 10 to see if I should drop or not.
XZ has really matured in acting! The only other drama I've seen him in is The Untamed. I tried to watch Duoluo Continent on YouTube but the syncing was off and then when music was playing in the background, YT silenced the whole thing and subs disappeared so I gave up.
I really love his portrayal on Shi Ying! He's not stiff and I like that he dubbed his lines himself.
