Does anyone know who are the snowboarding stunt doubles they hired for the show? I am curious to know who they are and if we are seeing any actual Olympians.
I’ve been meaning to comment re the title of the show and why it’s “Ski into Love” and not “Snowboard into Love.” It is a translation thing. Ski is 滑雪 or Hua2 Xue3. Snowboard is 滑雪板 Hua2 Xue3 Ban3, the direct translation is ski board. And you still use the same verb for both Hua Xue. I think “Ski into Love” rolls off the tongue more than “Snowboard into Love. but they could have gone with “Ride into Love” or even “Slide into Love.” This is also why in the subtitles, she often says ski as the verb even though she was snowboarding. So it’s a mistranslation.
As an intermediate snowboarder myself, I also wanted to comment that I am loving all the snowboarding scenes. and while I’m sure it’s not actually Lin Yi doing the really advanced skills, I still think all that they are showcasing with the big jumps and terrain park stuff is pretty awesome and so much fun. I do love seeing him doing even the basic stuff. I think it was actually him doing the uber ride move which was hilarious.
I will also share that the scenes where Esther is learning to snowboard are very realistic, and that minor character learning to do the downbox was realistic too, as I learned relatively recently how to do the down box as well. I wish I had my own Lin Yi to show me some moves!
and now “Si Jin.” What else have you seen him in that you’ve enjoyed?
