Let's take LCF's death . He died she blamed ML . And it is justifiable. But what about the ML ? What about the army that he lost. The FL thought of LCF as a brother but what about the army that he killed. Aren't they also like a brother to him ? Only she is allowed to vent and blame people and others just have to cozy up to her . And the drama does a exceptionally good job trying to portray the problems of the FL and make the viewer's sympathise with her while the problems of ML are not of so much concern or smaller than the FL. So because of power dynamics it is justifiable that the ML is grovelling at the feet of FL. Really? And you are talking about getting over way too fast. But you are not talking about the constant apologies the ML need to make for her. And the maid always complaining about how he treats the FL while he is basically behaving like a puppy to get her acknowledgement. And my point still stands you didn't watched the drama from the ML's pov you just watched it as it was depicted. And cdramas and kdrama always try to justify the FL's actions . As their main viewers are female. And you are taking about she didn't need ML for her ambition well I don't remember I have mentioned it anywhere. But does that mean she is free to do whatever she wants. And she was the one who started this crown prince business. And her absence of efforts in resolving a problem between her and ML and the constant spineless behaviour from the ML made the show even more hard to watch. Her army was disbanded so she became hysterical but when half of ML's army was destroyed. What about then? But no the ML should save the one who did that. Why? Is only her army precious? And you are talking about sacrifice well it didn't really affected me after seeing her personality the whole drama. Talking about the palace do you think only the FL has to face the problems? And the ML would just love happily. Both will be in schemes, in danger and that is obvious as they are highest authority in the nation. And talking about freedom do you think the ML would restrict her from anything? He literally behaves like a puppy infront of her. She is not like a normal concubine who is restricted from everything. And do you she only suffered in this? Well no there plenty of benefits being an empress.

Well I would have applaud to her if she really gave up the army as you said. But what do we see ? We see her throwing tantrums knowing that they can't keep the army anymore. Blaming the ML for it while the ML didn't even wished for it . It was her who constantly coerced the ML for that position. And deciding what's right for others and then throwing tantrums after the consequences is not praiseworthy. "If he gave up crying something along the lines of she doesn't get me, why i'm even with her. etc., why would anyone watch character like that." Exactly my point , as you don't want a ML who just behaves immaturely and cries I also don't like a FL who just only know how to blame others and a ML who just grovel at her feet and try to please her. Yes there was no " till love do us part " thing and I am not even talking about that. All I am asking is a mature FL who admits her mistakes, doesn't throw tantrums, doesn't always blames the ML for everything and doesn't behaves like a victim. Just because one wants to pursue others doesn't mean he has to take all the blame. And I read godscows comment. While he is kinda right but he didn't unveiled the whole dynamics. Just cherrypicking the lines and emphasising on that makes the FL seem great . But doesn't truly explain the underlying conflicts , the interaction between the ML and FL .

It would have been all good if only her attitude towards the ML was half as good as ML's attitude towards her. Outrightly being stubborn, emotionally manipulative, and unapologetic most of the time as I have mentioned in my previous comment. These are not what anyone would like in their partner. Why the ML has to take blame of all the bad consequences while it was mainly her decision or he has no direct involvement with the reason. Behaving like a victim and throwing tantrums doesn't make me see her as a mature character. It's just looks like a toxic relationship. Where the ML is always on the submissive side most of the time. Growling at her feet and apologising even when it was not his fault. She behaves like a spoiled child. Maybe they wanted to depict a ML who is always emotionally strung along by the FL. You will realise my point if you watch the drama from the ML's pov. Sometimes it's just feels like why is he even with her.

But in most part of the drama you can obviously see who is the one that is constantly throwing tantrums as I also mentioned about them in my previous comment. Conflicts between the leads were frustrating, in most cases it would have the same pattern with FL being upset, ML growling at her feet and after repeated attempts by ML it would be resolved without any effort by FL. I ignored it the first time this happened but later on I realized that the writers don't think that FL was wrong at all .Relationships, particularly romantic ones, shouldn't be only about what you can get from the other person and I feel like their chemistry was ruined by her transactional nature. Cui Lin is just like Gu Wanniang, it just so happens that our male lead likes her instead of Gu. For both of them, it's all about what they can get out of the situation and person.
These maaaassive age gaps for all the couples woaaaah plus all the men are ugly af and all the girls are super…
Why are you ranting here whether if it is a male fantasy drama or not? You don't like it, don't watch it. Nobody is forcing you. Or has it triggered you because it makes you feel insecure about your ugly looks

The problem is I think the behaviour of the leads to each other. I am not saying ML was perfect but FL's character in particular needed more work. She is shown as someone who is smart and capable but she often came across as spoiled. There is no self-awareness in Cui Lin's character and the thing that pissed me off was how she would keep blaming ML for things that had nothing to do with him.
It happened first when ML refused to save the 2ML, I thought she would get over it but no it was ML who had to repeatedly apologize. She wanted Ml to be Crown Prince despite knowing that she wouldn't be suitable for the role of Crown Princess. Why she or her father thought that she would be able to command an army? The healer girl also kept annoying me with her constant whining about how ML is treating FL so poorly , when there was any problem?
I just really don't like the way she behaves as she pushes the crown prince issue. Okay, they all get what they want. He becomes crown prince. Great. Now she pitches a fit about the marriage. Well she gets the marriage, but is unhappy with what they had to sacrifice to get the marriage (the Cui Family Army). She just seems all complaints and pettiness about things that she wanted to happen. I liked her character, initially, but later on in the series the character seems to regress, not progress. She just can't be happy. And it's about things that HE did not want from the start. It's just irritating and frustrating. That is to say the fault lies with the drama makers not the actress. Drama makers need to understand that strong women doesn't mean being arrogant or stubborn. Sometimes owing up to their mistake and dealing with your mistakes is what makes a mature, competent and strong women.
It was good drama for a short series. The story progression felt pretty coherent unlike some short series where it just feels like many cut scenes pasted together. Liked everything except one thing, Ml and fl's behavioral dynamics . It just felt like only the ml was giving in the relationship. The FL was just on the recieving side the whole drama. It would have been good to see the fl care for the ml the way he did for her. Ml Getting stabbed in chest for fl and taking care of the fl in that state without caring about himself, sharing her mental burdens and supporting her always . In that comparison we don't really see much of fl's care towards him. We see many scenes ml talking about how much he loves the fl but again we don't get so for fl. Only in the ending scene it feels like a two sided giving relationship.
Can you please tell me when the female lead falls for the male lead cause im on episode 3 and she is aoo mean…
Their relationship dynamics are pretty much same until the last episode. Only In the ending scene it feels like a proper two sided responsible relationship
