Can't say it was smooth sailing from start to finish but it was definitely Park Min Young's romcom. Still not okay with them being fine with shifting death on other people.
Binge-watched from 6 episode and I was thinking: "I'm really resting while watching this, half of the season is done and it is great, I hope there not gonna be a stupid breakup in the second half." Oh well...
It feels like the story went from morally grey but understandable decisions to a far darker spectrum. Having a hard time rooting for leads who are okay with shifting death to other people. Like yes, it seems to be the rule of inevitable fate as canon here. But I can't really see Ji Won as a good person with rules like this...
Well, technically, Ji Won was okay with the idea of Soo Min dying instead of her from the beginning but everything that happened so far distracted me from that thought until now.
On the other hand, if Ji Hyuk is safe now from his fate after a nonlethal car crash and Ms. Yang is safe from the table, that means the outcome can be different. But how and why? In early episodes, we have been shown that Ji Won couldn't dodge the knee accident completely. And Ji Hyuk protects her from other small accidents by hurting himself on his own accord. And now Ji Won trying to shift Ms. Yang's current fate to Soo Min and Min Hwan again. Why does she think that this would work? And why Ms. Yang "took a hit" in the first place? 2 episodes left and I start thinking we not gonna get any clarifications on how this fate shift works...
FWIW, they didn't add her so much as adapt her character and story arc from the original source material.
At this point, everyone can see why Webtoon ditched Yoo Ra completely xD My only explanation is that novel adaptation rights were far cheaper than Webtoon ones, so they had to put her in.
I completely agree with you but that quote is actually quite realistic. Lots of people prefer other people to…
Lazy writing. We have been shown that Ji Won is quite intelligent or dumb down when the plot demands it. And about self-reflecting, I feel like there is some when she narrates her flashbacks. Whether she uses it or not is up to the next story twist, I guess.
that confused me as well. also didn't she agree with breaking off the engagement as well? why didn't he say anything?…
Yup, well kinda. In conversation with Gramps, Yu Ra says that she broke off the engagement and she wasn't interested in Ji Hyuk at all. But at the final of the 11th episode, she says that Ji Hyuk broke off the engagement because of Ji Won. So, I guess, it triggered Ji Won because of how her parents ended things. And yet again, one simple sentence/explanation from Ji Hyuk should fix it, but writers create unnecessary drama out of nowhere... Yup.
"No matter what the relationship is, once it's started, I don't think it's right for one person to end it one-sidedly."
Unless something is lost in translation, I found this line incredibly stupid. Especially with the given example about her parents. Like, her shitty mom endured for 14 years and was unhappy, but the breakup hurt her good dad, so the shitty mom should keep enduring an unhealthy relationship? Wut? And Ji Won herself ended her current relationship one-sidedly, lol.
I laughed so hard when I saw White Truck of Doom slowly sliding into the frame again xD All Korean writers are definitely aware of its uses at this point, so they are just trolling us... Well, in this case, it is not his first appearance and it was tied to Ji Hyuk's fate, so it kinda makes sense. But still, laughing out loud nonetheless.
5 eps to go and they introduced a new character/subplot. I just hope they'd wind up everything perfectly.
I hope we are not getting "breakup and back together in the final episode" nonsense. The writers have already created unnecessary problems/secrets that can be solved in one simple conversation. It will be a very disappointing finish.
I wonder how long we need to wait for something like this again. Like, a fantasy series in its own world with awesome-looking sword combat, beautifully shot, well acted, OST that keeps you in limbo, an engaging story, and a VERY hated bad guy xD
Yeah... the second season is a bit of a letdown and feels very rushed, especially if you binge-watch it right after the first. It is what it is, and it feels much better on the second rewatch.

Ji Won: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
P.S. You might wanna hide it under the spoiler for people who are not caught up.

Any insiders in the comment sections? xD
