Omg why is it so good? I blink and an entire episode is finished. Thank God we get another episode in 24 hours, I am so addicted to this show. Rarely am I this eager for the next episode.
Good review, not looking forward to sad ending but I might enjoy a sad ending, something different. But that was quick, I literally just finished work and gym and I’m about to start episode 1. You already watched all 8 episodes and even a review already, that’s insane. Do you watch it at normal speed ?
Hi all, if you don’t want to pay for Viki/GagaOOLala, please watch it on their official YouTube page because it’s free. Their official YouTube also has cute behind the scenes clips and additional scenes that were cut from the series.

Double Helix is a remake of A Round Trip to Love Part 1 and Part 2. The original movies were only about 128 minutes combined, while the remake expands the story into 12 episodes at around 45 minutes each, which is about 540 minutes total. That is more than four times longer, so it will be really interesting to see what new scenes, character development, and emotional depth they add in the remake.
Last year, Revenged Love was a remake of Falling in Love with a Rival exactly 10 years later, and honestly it turned into one of the best BL remakes in 2025.
Now Double Helix is following the same pattern by remaking A Round Trip to Love exactly 10 years later in 2026.
I am starting to see a pattern here, and hopefully this means a remake of Addicted from 2016 that fully adapts both Book 1 and Book 2 could finally happen someday and make my dream come true.
Out of all countries, honestly Chinese BL dramas and especially their remakes have been some of the best. They take older stories with strong emotional foundations and give them bigger budgets, longer storytelling, better production quality, and more complete character arcs.
So many people are hating Scent’s character, but if you really put yourself in his shoes, his father is dying and extracting the fragrance from Gaysorn might be the only way to save him. Yes, he went to the village with a motive. Yes, he kept Gaysorn close to him because he needed something from him. But at the same time, he also promised to help Gaysorn find his mother, so it was never completely one sided. As the story goes on, you can already see Scent slowly falling in love for real, which makes everything more complicated and painful. According to the trailer, once Gaysorn finds out the truth, he is going to be completely heartbroken, and honestly that emotional fallout is what makes the story interesting. If Scent had been honest from the very beginning and said, “I need to extract your fragrance because it may save my father,” do people really think Gaysorn would have followed him to Bangkok? Probably not. The whole point of Scent’s character is that he is calculated, manipulative, desperate, and willing to make morally questionable decisions for someone he loves. That makes him flawed, but it also makes him human. Characters who always do the right thing can become predictable very quickly.
I actually think his character is brilliantly written because you can already tell he is going to regret his decisions later. The guilt is building up little by little. That emotional conflict between love and selfishness is what gives the drama tension. If Scent was just a perfect green flag from episode one, this would become another simple and safe BL with no real stakes. Conflict is what keeps people invested.
People love complicated characters in other genres all the time. In superhero movies, villains and morally grey characters are what make the story exciting. Imagine a superhero movie where everyone is kind, honest, and makes perfect decisions all the time. There would be no tension, no betrayal, no emotional impact, and honestly no reason to keep watching. The same thing applies here.
Even in popular dramas outside BL, some of the most loved characters are manipulative or morally grey because viewers understand their motivations. A character can do bad things and still be interesting or sympathetic. Understanding a character’s reasons does not mean you support everything they do. It just means the writing is doing its job and making people feel something.
I think a lot of viewers are reacting emotionally because they are attached to Gaysorn and already feel protective of him. They know his heartbreak is coming, so they are directing that anger toward Scent. But that just proves the story is working exactly as intended.

I love Peat and Fort from Love in the Air, but with their new BL Yesterday I only managed to watch the first two episodes. It’s still on hold for me because I’m not really connecting with the plot. It’s just not my cup of tea right now, though I might come back to it later because I still love Peat and Fort together.
Their first kiss was so adorable. The fake girlfriend in the background shipping them and even dimming the lights is so supportive. I’m loving this series.

I really like his acting because you can actually feel every emotion he is going through. If you really think about it, he believed he was straight his whole life and then suddenly started developing feelings for another guy, which is such a huge change emotionally and mentally. I think the actor portrayed that confusion, fear, and vulnerability so well without overdoing it. At the same time, Yichen still feels so cute, innocent, and genuine, which makes his character even more lovable to watch.
Episode 2 genuinely shocked me because when Lufeng hit that guy with the brick and he collapsed with blood coming from his head, I honestly thought he died for a second. The scene was so intense and realistic that it completely caught me off guard. Right now I am still wondering if he actually died or if he recovered later because the drama did not make it fully clear yet. Does anyone know what happened to him?
I have watched over 500 BLs and this is honestly one of the most addictive ones I have seen in years. What made Yichen and Lufeng stand out immediately was that their relationship was not the typical soft natural romance, it was obsessive, possessive, emotionally intense, and that is exactly why I could not stop watching. Their chemistry feels insane in every scene and the acting made every emotion hit even harder. The ring exchange scene and the separation storyline completely broke me, especially knowing they spent years apart while still loving each other just as deeply. This drama balances obsession, heartbreak, romance, and longing so perfectly that every episode leaves you wanting more. China really delivered a masterpiece with this BL.
I love the second couple, the crazy and evil Crown Prince and his servant. Their intimate scenes are wild and add a chaotic, exotic energy to the series
Bro why dud he just stay there after the first arrow 💔
Imagine watching your lover get shot and killed right in front of you, it is an extremely traumatic moment and it would leave anyone completely frozen. He could not even see who fired the arrow or where it was coming from. From a distance on the mountain, the Crown Prince and his lover were the ones behind the attack, disguised, leading to the death of his own brother.
How did THAT get past the censors? Was it filmed outside China?
Same as Revenge Love, Kill to Love, ABO Desire, all these Chinese BL dramas were filmed in China with Chinese actors, but the production companies are not from China and they were not aired in China so they passed censorship.
Wow, episode 8 is my favourite episode so far. They cleared up their misunderstanding so quickly instead of dragging it out for a few episodes.
You can really tell how much they love each other during their NC scene. It was filmed so beautifully, one of the best Taiwanese BL scenes I’ve ever seen. I’m honestly speechless.
Rarely am I this eager for the next episode.

He did not abandon the village either, he just wanted to leave to find out about his mother. He said he will be back in a month time.
Can you imagine growing up without a mother, wondering every day if she is alive or dead and what happened to her?
This was his only opportunity to go. If I were him, I would have taken it as well.
So no, he did not betray anyone. He felt trapped and wanted to escape, and again the fire was never intentional.
