It doesn't bother me. I think its good that the Emperor and XH have enough trust that XH isn't keeping her a secret from the Emperor. Its likely that XH pitched using JL to the Emperor, by referring to her as a pawn. Especially since JL herself calls herself a pawn. JL may not have been explicitly been told that the Emperor is really calling all the shots, but she's smart enough to have worked it out. Also, given a clip from a later episode it sounds like both XH and JL refer to themselves as pawns in each others wars.

Given the teaser drop for episodes 32-33, it looks like its a non issue. Unless the fight with the emperor in the teaser happens before he leaves to escort the princess, it seems that he is already back, and then leaves again. The focus seems more on Wanning and YSR finally snapping.

XH is as good at what he does because he thinks logically about what is best for country, and puts his own emotions to the side. Like when he told JL he feels nothing when he kills. This is what the Emperor needs him to be, someone who puts crown and country above all else and doesn't let personal emotions get involved. I think the Emperor just worries that he knows they may need to sacrifice JL to Wanning, I think he knew a long time ago. So did XH, but XH believes her capable and believes in her abilities to get out of most situations, while still feeling he can save her in the end if need be ...I think the Emperor took notice a little to late, otherwise he would've seen that XH had feelings for JL all along. If XH would compromise the mission to save her, all their plans would go to pot. He needs XH willing to sacrifice JL, should it be necessary. But he caught on a little too late, XH was never willing to sacrifice her, that's why she's been guarded from the beginning.
based on one of the stills… any spoilers or speculations tat JL gets kidnapped and he goes to save her? otherwise the still of him holding her on a battlefield makes no sense.
Just me over here waiting for the scene where, 1) she gives him that necklace she promised never to give to another man.... and 2)him covered in blood, putting it in his mouth....
