Don't be afraid. I look at it as a final hurdle to get to the good stuff (relationship wise between the leads).…
if the roles were reversed, do you think she would’ve stood by and let someone kill someone that helped raise her? and if she did kill Wu, what about the kids he is taking care of? their orphans, if he dies who is stepping up to raise them? They’ll probably end up on the streets. Don’t their lives matter? And if they decide they have a right pursue justice down the road for having their only caretaker taken from them, is that okay? JCY stopped Mudan from committing murder. He was right to do so…. and Mudan was right to be angry and leave. but his actions are not unforgivable and it doesn’t ruin their relationship. … though I think the whole plot was stupid.
Gang to Chi: I think Wu is shady and has ulterior motives. We shouldn't trust him. Chi to Gang: I'm not stupid, I know he is. Keep your opinions to yourself. 5 minutes later.... Wu to Gang: Hey can you help me do something shady to get Chi's ex out of the picture? Gang: I take back everything I said. You two are going to be together forever.
Was he raped..That's one situation where I figured might happen after a reviewer didn'tspoil why he was hospitalized...
The book is 283 chapters. I remember correctly… Wu starts his revenge plan somewhere around chapter 30’s. Wu realizes he has real feelings for CC in chapter 70. They become an exclusive couple in chapter 115 CC is extremely smart. He clocks that Wu has ulterior motives from the beginning, while he’s not entirely sure what it is. Wu does try to come clean a few times but CC doesn’t want to know. Despite his temperament, he lets the people he cares about, get away with a lot of things most people wouldn’t tolerate. He finds out the truth in chapter 182-4 ( I think) and he is angry, but tells Wu that as long as he loves him now, he doesn’t care. But CC has some unresolved issues about his ex that is also back in the picture, and Wu knows that as long as CC can’t let go of his ex, they really don’t have a future. There is a whole thing about the ex that is also coming out about this time. So Wu tells him he never loved him and they break up. Again CC isn’t an idiot, he sees that Wu does love him and is giving him space to figure out how to deal with his ex. Their apart for about 5 chapters. My impression is that CC only stayed away because even if he knew Wu was lying when he said he didn’t love him, it still hurt a lot to hear. But Wu’s mom dies during this time, and it cracks CC’s resolve to stay away. They’re back together in chapter 190-191ish. After which, they remain together for the rest of the novel.
The Emperor and Consort Shu are sort of a 2nd couple.....their already married, but their marriage isn't great. He believes she loved his brother and resents him for having to marry him. And she believes he can't love her because of his duty to the throne. But both are in love with each other.

So, like the scene in episode 10 that implies they had sex in the office and fades out while Wu begging him to stop, but later admitted he actually enjoyed what they did....or the bathroom scene where Shaui barges in cause he hears Wu begging to stop, only when he enters Wu looks at him like 'wtf are you interrupting us for?'... Wu enjoys pretending he doesn't want it.

and it romanticizes abuse. The main couple is heavy into bdsm and cnc, but there are moments where CC's behavior is just abuse no matter how its portrayed.

Yes, the kids are biracial. And one favors their father more than the other. A lot of remarks are made from CC's parents about him. So much so that when Wu is doing magic tricks for the kids, he asks if Wu can use magic to make him look like everyone else.... CC's sister actually doesn't care that CC is in a same sex relationship, she only gets involved because their dad demands she help.

I still have about 20 chapters left, but none of the main characters are raped in the book, though rape is something that comes up in the book in regards to other characters. There is also a plot related to Shaui where he thinks he was raped, only eventually he learns it was staged...... no the issue with the kids is rooted heavily in CC's family being extremely racist and homophobic. CC's father ropes his sister into helping break up Wu and CC. She appears to 'reluctantly' let CC and Wu watch her kids for several days. One night while the kids are asleep in the spare room, they engage in adult activities. Only to find out later the kids woke up and saw them...and found their toys.. CC's sister gets all outraged and says a bunch of things....except the kids keep talking and it comes out that she told the kids to spy on them and never let them out of their site...to even sleep in their bed with them.... She was trying to make sure they didn't engage in adult activities to sow discord. But she continues to act like she wasn't in the wrong.....
