I liked how they set up the first episode yes certain characters are annoying but there is room for character growth and development .

If you want some perfect flawless Mary sues and Gary stus who will be perfect every time anywhere and makes no mistakes at all , then well you will be sorely disappointed.

This is a journey where characters are going to develop , their character development journey is going to fluctuate and they are going to act annoying , they will be emotional , they will make mistakes that annoy the hell out of you , act flawed imperfect and emotional regardless of how immortal and godly they are Xianxia's have showed us that they are never going to be perfect.

So be prepared for the emotional journey of all our main characters.

I think if you remember Xianxia dramas like ten thousand miles of peach blossoms (top angst xianixia) Immortal sometimes have to go through tribulation some very emotional human life trials etc. to attain a breakthrough or more power , For A Yin and Gu Jin I think the situation is somewhat similar.
